"We teach about Thanksgiving from a purely historical perspective, not from a religious perspective."

A lot like teaching about dairy products without mentioning Cows.

This guy is tasting shoe leather and he doesn't even know it...And he probably thinks religious people are ignorant.

We sent the left a message on 2 November 2004. Evidently they are acting just like they always do when they are losing. Yes they are losing and they are getting desparate. God Bless America!

It will take many successful lawsuits by Alliance Defense Fund and others. That will get their attention.

I haven't been following closely, but there is a huge movement in the EU to return God to their so-called Constitution. If this is successful and if it changes current EU case law, even our EUrophile judiciary at the SCOTUS will have to acknowledge the international demand for the recognition of religion and religious practice by Jews and Christians.

OTOH, Muslims are automatically, it seems, granted every demand they make on the basis of their religion.

"Students may give thanks to anyone but, God."

Uh...this is probably a silly question...but whom should they thank?

Government? The Democrat Party? Politicians? Leftist leaders? Karl Marx? Sixties Hippies? The "Mainstream Newsmedia"? Dan Rather? Bill and Hillary? "Camelot"?

One thing's for sure--the Muslims are not in doubt.

And this from one of the RED counties in Maryland. I lived in St Mary's for 7 years and I HATED every day of it. Too many SMIB's.

"There's a backlash acomin'; BIGtime!"

You can bet the farm on that! The human desire for God is more fundamental and indelible than is human sexuality--and trying to suppress it is more explosive than trying to suppress sexuality.

What is the matter with you spineless Christians in Maryland? Why should you support a godless organization with your tax dollars? God will ask you to give an account in this blatant rejection of Him and your part in it. When the government will not allow Pres. George Washington's declaration of the first Thanksgiving to be read in public schools, this is no longer a free country.
Let's just say they wouldn't try this in Texas.

"The county is very Republican, went for W in a big way, but the schools are definitely operated by the left."

Can you name just one Public School System that isn't run by the left?.....The answer should tell you something.

I'm from St. Mary's, too, like Blue Eyes. Trust me, folks, people don't get any better than they make 'em in St. Mary's County, and I promise you the people of the county do not support this asanine statement. The county is still chock full of devout Catholics, many of them descendants of the original Catholic families.

The SMIBs do all the real work while the gubbmint employees on the base pick their noses, twiddle their thumbs, collect paychecks three times the size of SMIB paychecks, and make condescending remarks about SMIBS.

The public schools certainly aren't doing themselves any favors.

There was a story recently in educationnews.org about a public school in CA that went caput. It is no more. It's boarded up. Gone. Withered and died on the vine.

Parents pulled their kids out for private schools and charters.

I agree with you, the 3 years we spent there while my wife was on shore duty at PAX River was great. And I agree with you on the Gov't. workers on the base. Having recently retired at that time...most of them made me want to smack them around *L*

You'll be added right now!

It is true that leftists have dominated the school system for quite some time. People who don't check out their kids' text books are in for a shock. Any responsible parent should spend a LOT of time investigating what their children are being taught in school. Aren't parents allowed to visit schools - even spend a day, sitting in desks and seeing what's really going on?

Just about every textbook I've seen in the last 20 years has socialist (and now worse) propaganda mixed in with lessons. What to speak of outright indoctrination.

You're not likely going to hear everything from your children. Children's intellectual acumen just isn't there yet, they don't necessarily recognize crap when it's delivered by the "Teacher" in a nice tone of voice. Any parent who is sending their children to government screwels should check everything being taught very, very carefully.

You might be in for some unpleasant surprises.
