Replacing one fear state with another doesn't do much, in the long term.
I have to say that crossed my mind
I would love to see Ole Kim bite the dust .. but I also don't trust China
That's exactly what I was thinking. At least with Kim Jong (mentally) Il, we have a known, unstable entity. If a coup is in the works we have an unknown, unstable entity, with nukes and a 1.5 million man army trained to invade South Korea. And, they know how to live off of grass.......
good point.looks to me they'll just end up w/ another dictator, or the military will take charge. either way china's gonna be runnin the show in nk.
True, but how stable would a military-run state be without Kim Jong Il and family, especially if Kim doesn't die of natural causes? What ideology could keep the military from rising up against the military? This is a development that could scare the crap out of dictatorships all over the world. I hope our US intelligence and armed forces are ready to pitch in if necessary. The worse thing that the US could do is back the old regime or the replacement shortly afterwards just to ensure "stability".
