Gun Owners of America: Battle Over Senator Arlen Specter Heating Up
If pro-abortion judges are put on the USSC or lesser courts, pro-life Catholics and evengelicals will stay home in 2006. Thye've stayed home before - 1996, 1998 and 2000, when 4 million evangelicals stayed home and Bush nearly lost.
I suspect Bush and his people know this. Bush wants to appoint pro-lifers out of principle, I think, but also because it's good politics.

Condi: Why I Support the Second Amendment
Secretary of State nominee Dr. Condoleezza Rice is a big supporter of the Second Amendment, a commitment cultivated during her days growing up in Bull Conner's Birmingham, Ala., when the shotgun wielded by her father was often the only thing that stood between her family and the Ku Klux Klan.
In 1963, racial violence was "turning her hometown into 'Bombingham' as Alabamas governor George Wallace fought a federal court order to integrate the citys schools," writes Rice biographer Antonia Felix. In excerpts of her book "The Condoleezza Rice Story," reprinted in the London Sunday Times, Felix recounts:
"With the bombings came marauding groups of armed white vigilantes called 'nightriders,' who drove through black neighborhoods shooting and starting fires. [Condi's father] John Rice and his neighbors guarded the streets at night with shotguns.
"The memory of her father out on patrol lies behind Rices opposition to gun control today. Had those guns been registered, she argues, Bull Connor would have had a legal right to take them away, thereby removing one of the black communitys only means of defense."
"I have a sort of pure Second Amendment view of the right to bear arms," said the future secretary of state.

Thanks for posting it. Good news is hard to come by these days.
~~This is the party that tries to alter the way overtime is figured, ships jobs overseas, imports cheap technical labor, turns a blind eye towards the illegal invasion, passes laws to prevent buying prescriptions outside the U.S., pushes laws to eliminate "country of origin" from our food labels, ad nauseum. They have their collective noses so far between the cheeks of el presidente Fox and Corporate America that it's fogged their perception. And you say MY sense of smell is backwards?~~
Yep - the GOP is being dumbed down by liberalism to attract a broader base and is going to lose a huge number of conservatives if they don't move right. There will be no accepted excuses this time around. We could end up with a three party system -socialists [Dems], Liberals [Repub's] and a Conservative party.
Re post # 65: It probably should have posted as a new Thread with a Ping to Joe Brower and the Bang list. *sigh*
I stopped posting new threads; every time I did, I found it had been posted before. :)
You're right; it's great to read/hear positive 2nd Amendment stuff!
