I do some work for a show ticketing company here in Vegas. It must be Havana Nights, I think Sigfried and Roy brought them here, took a bunch of tries to get them by the paperwork.

Welcome to America. I bet these people already appreciate our country more than 90% of those in the blue counties do.

Is there any way we can send Cuba 44 liberals? We could send singers, musicians, and actors to take the place of the defectors. Fidel won't even notice they're gone.

Let's send Bruce Springsteen, Michael Moo, Barbara Streisand, Susan Sarandon and her husband what's-his-name, Cameron Diaz .......... any other suggestions?

From the article:

In addition, organizers of the show said, several influential people worked to get permission for the trip. The actor Kevin Costner contacted the Cuban Interests Section in Washington on the group's behalf. Siegfried & Roy helped the ensemble land the engagement at the Stardust.

Haha! So, Kevvie tries to do his bud Castro a solid, and just look what happens! Thanks, Kev!

I just Googled an interesting story about Kevin & Fidel... LINK

"It was an experience of a lifetime to sit only a few feet away from him and watch him relive an experience he lived as a very young man," Costner said at a press conference on April 11th at Havana´s elegant Hotel Nacional. "We all live in this world, and we all recognize Cuba is a big player although it is a small country," he said. "My interests aren't as political -- my life has been chosen to make films. I think humanity is a great experiment. Who is to say ... [that] the United States is right and Cuba is wrong?"

I didn't follow your link yet, but I imagine that's from when he was down there to watch 13 Days with El Presidente.

Yep, that's it. I thought I remembered him going to Havana for some reason. Now I'm reminded how bad Costner's Massachusetts accent was in that flick... Yikes!

I never saw Robin Hood, but I understand his accent shifted constantly throughout that movie. He's terrible.

Who is to say ... [that] the United States is right and Cuba is wrong?"

I think Kevin should relocate to Cuba. Incognito of course, so he doesn't get any special treatment. Even with his challenged intellect, I don't think it would take him long to figure out who's right and who's wrong.

Oh yeah, Robin Hood was bad acting to be sure. In addition to Costner's atrocious accent, the PC presence of Morgan Freeman as his sidekick was pretty embarassing. Yes, lots of brothers were strolling through Merry Olde England at the time. Most of the movie, Freeman had a look on his face like, "why did I accept this job?"

Heh. For some reason, I'm picturing Freeman with the "Aw, geez. Not this s**t again!" look on his face.

A few subtropical summers hacking sugar cane by government decree would make him a little more thankful for America. And then he might be able to fake a good Cuban accent!

any other suggestions?

You mean like Ben Affleck, Janeane Garofalo, Al Franken, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Ed Asner, the Dixie Twits, Alec Baldwin (who still won't move to France, no matter how much we encourage him), Richard Gere, Elton John (even though he's a Brit, we can toss him in and see if Fidel notices), the forgettable Tim Robbins . . . . suggestions like those?

"Yes, lots of brothers were strolling through Merry Olde England at the time."

Freeman was playing a muslim swordmaster that Costner met on the Crusades. But yeah, Costner was AWFUL in that film.

Alan Rickman was good though.

Alan Rickman was so good I almost started rooting for him!

Alan Rickman is one of the most underrated actors working today. He is one of the few I know who can play either a hero or a villain convincingly.
