Is he for amnesty for illegal aliens?
Shhh. This is all part of "The Secret Plan" to keep minorities down.
No Republicans only hate the fact that a certain minority continues to allow themselves to be taken for granted by the dims.
Oh but they will find a way
Most excellent.
His nomination may be for this purpose. Bush wants to reform immigration, work with Fox, so Gonzalez may be the AG to implement these changes.
AG is a prophetic acronym too.
Yes, very fashionable.
when/if Thomas or Scalia are promoted to Chief Justice of the United States.
A question to anybody does the Senate need to aapprove a sitting SC Justices elevation to Chief Justice?
Itll be an entertaining what ever happened to
moment when the Dems dust off Anita Hill, hopefully with the same end result.
Not really a bad thing though, reminds us of what we are fighting.
Pray for W and Our Troops
My favorite part of the ABCNEWS article:
Referring to Ashcroft, "Sen. John Kerry, R-Mass., issued a statement Wednesday calling Ashcroft "one of the most divisive faces in this administration.""
What's wrong with this picture??
Olsen would be an incredible choice! He is white and male, though. This might hurt his chances with Bush. :(
Or greases the skids, depending on timing. AG would be a significant resume enhancement. In addition, assuming the 'rats don't filibuster a cabinet appointment, it would create a difficulty for a subsequent filibuster on a SC nomination, since most of the dems would have fairly recently voted for the guy. Sure, they could say "well, this is for the Supreme Court and that's a completely different matter," but it would still tend to inhibit an all-out attack.
Yea, after about two weeks. Hee Hee.
Here's some background from a couple of years ago:
WASHINGTON, D.C.--(HISPANIC PR WIRE)--August 9, 2002--... Gonzalez serves as general counsel for President Bush and is a leading contender to a United States Supreme Court nomination. If nominated, Gonzalez will be the first Hispanic appointed to the position. "Al is a distinguished lawyer. Al is a man who has only one standard in mind when it comes to ethics and that is the highest of high standards," said President Bush when he first nominated Gonzalez. On Thursday September 26, 2002, Gonzalez will speak on issues concerning the impact Hispanic press has on the Latino population in the United States and will discuss the importance of promoting growth throughout the indistry. The NAHP 3rd Annual D.C. Media Summit will focus on "Building the Case for Latino Print," the chosen theme for the summit. The 2002 NAHP Media Summit Committee has planned a series of seminars that will focus on a variety of topics involving the Latino print industry. Throughout the summit, NAHP will both demonstrate how the Hispanic print industry is the most effectve media in reaching the critical demographics in the Latino population and demand a level playing field for Hispanic print in federal communications campaigns. The White House Counsel advises the president on all legal issues concernig the Office of the President and the White House. Prior to working with the president in the White House, Gonzalez served as Bush's secretary of state and as his legal counsel in Texas. He was a Bush appointee to the Texas Supreme Court and the second Hispanic to serve in the position. Gonzalez was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Houston. ...
Nice reminder that that "Senator" title hasn't been upgraded though.
Disagree. Gonzalez was the primary guy behind Dubya's cave in on "diversity" in the Michigan case. This is a bad sign for the second term.
