No Mandate?

Gee, maybe this year they do not want to COUNT ALL OF THE VOTES!

Three Million plus in the Popular vote! Hypocrites!

Good luck with that whole stopping the Judicial Appointment plan, especially with the majority of the Senate going boldly to the Republicans and with Daschle going job hunting.

People are forgetting the reason why electoral votes are increasing in Red States. It’s cuz businesses are moving there and their economies are growing because Conservative economic policies work! As an example, this is what liberalism did to California:

Liberalism in a nutshell!

kerry said, "We talked about the division in our country and the need, desperate need, for unity. ...Today, I hope we can begin the healing."

Who caused the division and the wounds, Senator? hmmmmMMM?

Well, he got more popular votes than Al Gore, and, according to the Democrats, isn't that what really counts?

*smirk*

286, but the networks aren't calling it yet and probably never will.

The MSM won't call them, because they are reading DU, and honestly believe that Kerry has a chance in Ohio and Florida. Additionally, if they call those states for W, then he will have picked up two Gore states, thus giving credence to the claim that he had broad support.

LMAO! The President just won Iowa and New Mexico will be in the bag soon. That makes it two Gore states that have flipped Red and the only state Bush lost from four years ago is New Hampshire. He traded 4 for 13 electoral votes. CNN can't even get its math straight!

That would explain why the nets were afraid to call Iowa and New Mexico. They were gore states.

But in addition to the popular vote margin of four million, Bush bettered his percentage in 40 of 50 states.

But Kerry only won one state carried by Bush in 2000.

You are correct. Winning states is a constitutional requirement built into the electoral system. However, once that is accomplished the president serves in either a relatively weak position as did President Bush in his first term because he received less of the popular vote than did his opponent; or he serves in a relatively strong position as will President Bush in his second term because he is the first president since 1988 to receive more than fifty percent of the vote, he received approximately 3,500,000 more votes than his opponent, and he received the largest popular vote of any American president since the founding of the republic.

Michael Barone has observed that Bush ran FIVE percentage points better in Massachusetts than when Algore won the Bay State!

Even living in God-forsaken NYS, my county proudly (Orange - an hour out of NYC) and most others in upstate NY went overwhelmingly for Bush.

Rush pointed out today that Bush getting nearly 40% of the vote even here in the land of the "brain dead" was a decisive victory, coupled with how close it was in PA and NJ.

I made sure I encouraged the "W" supporters I knew to vote so 'Rats couldn't claim that the popular vote was even close. Thrilled many upstaters did the right thing and came out and voted in record numbers even though the state was "in the bag" for the Dems.

Now to continue the mandate into 2008!
