Question: Why didn't the Dems try to get Bob Kerrey to run again? Vietnam vet, SEAL, Medal of Honor winner. Bob has better taste in women. And any Democrat who can tell "that's a man!" jokes about Janet Reno can't be all bad.

This would have been a good idea in the time between beating Dean and taking the nomination. But on the day before the election? Makes it look like a straw...in the water....with a drowning guy.

kerry should do nothing, except hire a Lawyer to defend himself.
The Feds should try him for treason. He shouldn't have been able to run for senate, never mind president.

And the fact that, throughout this whole election, Kerry refused to release his records by signing the 180.
It's obvious even to a grade 5 student that he has something to hide, yet a vast number of Americans can't see this. It shows just how stupid Americans have become,
a result of leftist infiltration of the public school system.

Title misquotes Kerrey. An acknowledgement of offense is not the same as an apology. He stopped mid-word. He might have been ready to say "I think he shouldn't...." or "I think he should realize an apology won't cut it." Who knows? His next sentence says nothing about an apology.

Morally- it seems unlikely he can ever say anything to undo the damage and harm he caused to untold numbers of Vietnam vets.

Unlikely?? Try impossible. No apology can undo 30+ years of damage.

Gee I thought the momentum was with Kerry. Why should he need to worry about apologizing? Can anybody explain this? Why Fox News, the conservative network, just was saying how everything's moving to Kerry. Why would he worry about such things at the llth hour of a campaign? Why Rosen and Cameron were just saying how great Kerry is doing, not to mention the moderator, what's his name. The TV is off.

My uncle, a swift boat vet who's liberal on most issues and voted for Nader in 2000 is voting for Bush this time because Kerry never made an apology for his acts.

I agree. I think it would be a slap to all vets and would be seen as pandering.

I was a little girl when he made those remarks and I was quite taken back. Made me a very early Republican.

BTW - thanks for your service! Vietnam Vets I hold near and dear. The way they were treated - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

He'll never apologize. Even if he did, it's too little too late. It would also be a sign his campaign is in deep trouble. JMHO

Too little, too late. We wouldn't believe a word of any apology at this point. Let him choke on it.

Kerry's charges against Viet Nam Vets caused much distress and 150,000 to 200,000 Viet Nam veterans have committed suicide. An apology would help but not much to dead solders. I am not sure what it would take to make me feel better. Jane Fonda does not mean too much to me because I saw her in Barbarella before in the news.

Jeff, I have watched this person for 36 years he is the ultimate political whore, I would vote for the 'Toon before I would vote for him. I would also cut my own heart out in an amazing act of self surgury on the Green at Copley Sq. before I voted for the 'Toon.

JFK would never feel the need to apologize since it is clear that he truly believes he never makes mistakes. No matter how trivial or how monumental the blunder Kerry always believes he exists on a higher plane of consciousness than us mere mortals. In fact, I would say that it is likely that in his mind he believes that he is owed the apology for the "little people" of this country having the audacity to question the positions of such a superior being.
The man is a lifetime member of the leftist scum brigade. Their stupidity is only outdone by their lack of shame. On Tuesday this turd will finally be sent to his rightful home on the sh-t heap of history.

How about "But what I said was a lie."

> The real apology would be if he recused himself
> from running for the position of CINC.

Ack. No.

A candidate to be named later might get more votes than
Kerry can.

A REAL apology would be for him to stay on the ballot
and ask people to NOT vote for him.

I have no problem with Kerry being the Clinton's
"designated loser" for 2004, just so long as he loses.
