Kerry keeps saying the arms depot was placed on a security level below the "Iraqi Oil Ministry." He made a similar reference to the Oil Ministry building in the first debate. This is a blatant appeal to the radical fringe who believe the war was fought for oil, indeed Kerry may be a member.
The reference is significant. Our troops were guarding lots of government buildings and installations. Kerry can only be singling out the Oil Ministry to imply oil was our main reason for being there. Of course, oil is vital to Iraq's recovery as well as to the World's oil supply. I believe the dems criticize Bush whenever an oil pipeline is blown up. So guarding the oil infrastructure was well worth doing.
Kerry is plainly adopting the arguments of the left wing lunatic fringe, and one might ask is he suggesting Iraq's oil infrastructure should have been sacrificed to guard (the already empty) ammo dump?
A nonmilitary person might conclude that Kerry is attacking the Bush administration in this whole faux outrage piece about missing ammo- but actually...................
he's once again indicting the US military, planners and troops, for failures in planning and execution. Back to his old post-Vietnam tactics.
The strategy depends on the "Oil Ministry v. National Museum" meme. Like so many failures of the "Genius" Rove, the strategy to not explain in detail what is happening in Iraq, just call it the "War on Terrorism" and let the press define the total situation in Iraq has given many fruits to Kerry.
WHY????????
THE EVIDENCE IN THE OIL FOR FOOD SCANDAL WAS FOUND IN THE "IRAQI OIL MINISTRY".
The oil ministery is also where the "oil for food" documentation has been coming from.
The entire country of Iraq, under Saddam was a ammo dump. But the ministery buildings are where the evidence of Saddam's corruption was stored.
That building should have been protected as for the explosives if it hadn't been that depot it would have been another. The democrats don't care about the explosives themselves or how they are used, unless they can be used to attack our President and the Military command structure.
For a man so concerned about the environment, he ought to be praising our military for taking care that a similar disaster did NOT occur.
