Here's the website for it:

I'll be very interested in seeing how much it costs. I'll be in the market to replace my mini-van, and this may be the ticket.

Go test drive both the Prius and the Echo. We did this when we were looking into buying our Prius.

The Echo was horrible to drive. It didn't handle nicely, and it was very noisy. It seemed like a lightweight car.

The Prius was fun to drive and extremely quiet. It seemed like a heavier car, and handled like a much more expensive car.

Our Prius has about 50,000 miles on it, and it gets over 50mpgs.

Don't forget that your Prius is much quieter to drive and probably handles better than his Kia.

Out of curiosity, what milage do you get in your Prius? I get anywhere between 48-52mpg...

I can't beleive this thread is still going.

Thanx....I only used the Echo as an example. I wouldn't own one.
A Prius, on the other hand would be great...however, they are at a scarce premium around here.

My husband uses it for work. I know he's gone over 700 miles on a tank of gas.

If I'm driving, I get lower gas mileage because I usually crank on the a/c and I usually have kids. I think I typically get around 48 mpg.

My husband I think gets around 55 mpg.

I suggest you examine your beliefs critically. One way to start this process is to use numerical models.

Actually energy independence for the USA is possible, with adequate reductions in energy consumption. Whatever the "standard of living" is, or means, a "reasonably comfortable" life is achievable. I have run some numbers on it.

And you are correct that there are possibilities in plant derived materials, although they remain possibilities. Most such possibilities can be shown to be energy using, not producing, and/or are excessively comsumptive of natural resources.

Hey, I'm talking about HYDROGEN here. Your Prius is incremental technological advance that is bound to improve electrical engine and storage efficiency. I'm all for the Prius and hybrids. What I loathe is these folks who push hydrogen power as a solution to energy and/or pollution problems. It's neither.
