That's the Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan. It's the same plan I have. In fact, Kerry and I both have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and I assume with his millions, he can afford the 25% deductible on care, prescriptions and surgery.
The plan is decent, but it's not as generous as plans that many private sector employees have. But in any case, it's MY plan, and I sure don't want my care to be diluted by allowing every unemployed person, illegal alien and welfare recipient to share in the benefits of this plan.
Does that make me hard-hearted? Apparently according to Kerry. That's MY health plan, it constantly has to raise its rates every year, it exists as a benefit to federal employees and it compensates us adequately but not extravagantly.
If Kerry's plan goes thru, the health plan will become the equivalent of a country-wide welfare plan. IF ANY FEDERAL EMPLOYEE OR RETIREE VOTES FOR KERRY, YOU WILL VOTE TO DILUTE YOUR FUTURE BENEFITS.
To my former co-workers in the AFL-CIO (I'm retired), keep this in mind when your steward tells you to vote Democrat!
Perhaps Kerry is so confused like he was when he "spend Christmas Day in Cambodia in 1968" and wrote a letter to president Nixon. ( Nevermind that Nixon didn't get into office until in January 1969)
And why in the world does a billionaire even use insurance? The few wealthy people I know are self-insured, and none of them are billionaires.
FactCheck.Org: Kerry's Claim That 1.6 Million Jobs Have Been Lost "Is 1 Million Too High."
Job Loss
Kerry misled when he claimed the economy has lost 1.6 million jobs under Bush. It is true that figures released earlier in the day show the economy is still down by 1.6 million private sector jobs since Bush took office, but the drop in total payroll employment -- including teachers, firemen, policemen and other federal, state and local government employees -- is down by much less than that -- 821,000. Furthermore, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced, with the release of the latest figures, that its yearly "benchmark" revision would add an estimated 236,000 payroll jobs to the total when made final next February. That means the best current estimate is that 585,000 jobs have been lost under Bush, about one-third of the number Kerry stated.
The Dems will respond that household income/numbers has no merit, as the country hears the latest Payroll numbers. Why this number is not more emphasized, frankly, to me is most frustrating!
The wording "lost under Bush" bothers me as well. We know the fall from grace of the dot.coms, Enron, especially the tech sector CEO controversy (cooking the books) which is still suffering, Martha Stewart (Ahem-who never hurt the little people), and 9-11 in combination caused the numbers we see today. Thus, a broad brush stroke should paint the entire crew of Clinton, Kerry, Edwards, Kennedy etc.as well, if the words "lost under" are so used.
Last night I got a new hero in DC (well two Mort and Senator Frish (sp?)) Senator Frish spoke to the moron Chris Matthews clearly and concisely about what an ASSULAT WEAPON was and the fact that machine guns have been illegal for 60 years, and that there nothing but feel good to the AWB. Matthews even admitted that he knew the difference. Trying to find tape of that interview.
the 'assault weapons' bill covered only "semi-automatic weapons"---AK47 (a full auto or machine gun) can be owned ONLY by a citizen who pays a special tax and goes thru a 'fine toothed comb' checkout by ATF---there is a 'semi auto' version AK47, but it is not the one Kerry referred to--do not be fooled by liberals and liars who would have you believe the "assualt weapons" act covered fully automatic arms--not so
