DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- An English teacher and cheerleading coach in Douglas County has been suspended without pay after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage male student.
Authorities say they suspended the teacher identified as 27-year-old Kari McCarley at Alexander High School last week after another teacher overheard the boy talking about a relationship with McCarley.
McCarley was released from jail on bond.
Another high school boy proves that prayers are sometimes

Amen to that! Course I only had the 'hairy wart on the chin' type of lady teachers when I was in HS. We never had the opportuninty to gush over... er, be taught by a teacher like this one. ***sigh***

This school is about a mile from me.

As for myself, I had a couple of very sexy teachers. Neither had sex with students. Personally, I had my relationships in high school with girls in high school. I would never have had sex with a teacher, no matter how good-looking she was.
Adults having sex with kids is just plain wrong. It doesn't matter what sex they are.

A similar thing happened when I was in HS.
In this case it was the JV Cheerleading coach and SEVERAL members of the football team.
The whole thing was hushed up and never made the papers. The coach was also my homeroom teacher; she was pretty hot.
You can only imagine the stir that caused among us teenage boys.
No kidding. Over 15 minutes to load.

I don't think anyone here is advocating adult sex with minors. What is taking place here is merely a journey down memory land into the old glory days where many former high school students (likely male and female) had crushes on an attractive teachers and fantasized about something actualy happening associated with that. I would venture to guess that 99.9% of the time the fantasies do not come to fruition. You're observing the same type of locker room talk that took place in 9th - 12th grade. Don't take it too seriously.
Gosh -- I guess you're against laws about statutory rape, then. Remind me to never trust my kids around you.

From the extremely small story it is impossible to know what really happened. This could be some 17-18 year old kid who is worldly and aware and genuinely cares for this teacher.
Aside from the legality of the relationship, I would have no problem with that. When I was 17, I had a gorgeous female gym teacher I would have "had a relationship with" in a heartbeat. She was the stuff of my fantasies.
If, however, this is some 13-14 year old kid, I would have SERIOUS problems with that and would hope this teacher would never teach again.
We are drawing far too many conclusions based upon very sketchy information.

As the mother of a son who is entering into his teen years, I wasn't taking this conversation too seriously until I read your remark. We are no longer in the locker room as 9th - 12th graders....we are supposed to be adults and we are supposed to be capable of recognizing what is right and what is wrong.

These are the same people that when a teen boy porks his hot female teacher, cheer for him and tell him to go grab a cold one, but when the roles invert (male teacher porks teen girl), rally the townsfolk to burn the guy alive.
A product of the societal hypocrisy of shielding girls from having sex at early ages, but encourage boys to be sexually active.
Student-teacher sex in high school is just plain wrong, no matter the gender of the involved.
Sure. I had a similar sort of teacher, with whom I'd have happily done the nasty.
HOWEVER.... This is not about what horny boys would do, but what an allegedly responsible adult is supposed to do. She should not have had sex with a student, regardless of age.

I agree. But, depending on the details (which we don't know) she is either involved in a loving, caring relationship with a younger man, or she is a predatory ghoul raping and stealing the innocence of a young boy.
