Old school days long gone, but not forgotten: Congressman's streaking stunt exposed
DALLAS The gloves have come off in a tight election race between two Texas congressmen -- and every other article of clothing appears to be fair game as well.
Democrats are circulating old newspaper clippings of a 1974 college streaking stunt staged by hundreds of students at what was then called Southwest Texas State University.
One of the participants was an 18-year-old freshman named Pete Sessions -- who grew up to become a conservative Republican congressman.
A Sessions spokesman says the congressman's "old school days are long gone" and that he recognizes the streaking stunt was "an immature action."
But the campaign of Democrat Representative Martin Frost is holding his rival's bare body to the fire, saying he "exposed himself to children and strangers."
The two incumbents are battling each other in a new Republican-leaning district in the Dallas area. Frost, Texas' senior congressman, had his district redrawn by Republicans last year.

This is a strange story because Sessions is perceived as being a little aloof. A streaking story only works in his favor because it humanizes him. It proves how removed Frost is from the real people in his new district. Of course, all the blacks and union members will vote for Frost and most of the Mexican illegal criminals but I don't think that will be enough.
Say, maybe somebody will streak the debate tomorrow night.....
This from the party that sees nothing wrong with the Mothers of Perpetual Indulgence...some perverted gay men flashing their anatomy in gay pride parades..dressed as hooker nuns.
I know people in college who did it on a dare. You must remember, people who are 19 or 20 aren't firing on all cylinders.

This so reminds me of that disclosure of Bush's DWI in 2000. A youthful indiscretion being brought out at this time just to win an election.
Pete Sessions and Martin Frost have both shown what their character is by their voting records in congress. Martin Frost is just a liberal con-artist. I don't live in their district but it's close enough that I know enough about each of them. Pete Sessions has proven his character by his service to his constituency. I can forgive a youthful error based on the years since.
Personally, I know I could never run for political office because I have way too many of those wrong choices in my past. But, I will say that none of that keeps me from being a staunch conservative now. Not all of us can have squeaky clean backgrounds, but that doesn't *always* make us bad folks.

I'd estimate probably 85% of the male students and 50% of the female students in public universities streaked at least once. And this was in Minnesota in the spring, where it is still fairly chilly. I'll bet the numbers were higher in warmer climates.
Beware, Martin Frost (who apparently has some Republican and business backing) could also have a Halloween surprise awaiting Sessions on or about Oct. 31, 2004.
Again, I don't give a damn if he was 15 years old. You've got to be two tacos short of a combination plate, or just plain kinky to do this.

This district is one of the ones that was affected by Texas' recent redistricting plan. Sessions and Frost have both been representing separate districts which are now combined. So, we have 2 incumbents running for one seat. The contest is dirty and brutal. The district is a combined area of staunch GOP consevatism with another liberal area.
I think Sessions should probably win this one based on the demographics. Frost's old district was a gerrymandered enclave of libs which, I think, was created in previous redistricting in order to give the dems a seat. District lines more fairly represent the area now.

You don't think Frosty will win in a district that has gone Republican by some 65% in 2000 and 2002, do you?

You have to understand that this wasn't a sexual thing and it wasn't threatening or nasty. It was just college kids being silly, the equivalent of stuffing 38 fraternity boys into a Volkswagen or a shaving cream fight.
A bunch of us girls were sitting in the library one time when 50 or 60 guys came streaking through. They had forgotten, however, about the turnstiles at the entrance . . . which were just about the height of their, ah, tender bits. The guys were yelling "OOOH! OUCH! OW!" and all us coeds were covering our eyes and having giggle fits.
I'm still waiting for an opportunity to give Martin a spare piece of my mind for calling me uninformed! You know us women, we don't forget. :-) I still haven't had my chance at rebuttal. :-)

I don't know if Sessions or Frost will win, but I would not be surprised at the outcome either way. There are Republicans supporting Frost in the district. The Houston Chronicle found some last week.
