Debate moderator tells Gephardt: "It should have been you up there"
St. Louis Post-Dispatch ^ | 10/10/2004 | Deb Peterson

Apparently it wasn't just conservatives that thought Bush drop-kicked Kerry Friday night. Charlie Gibson didn't think much of ABC's candidate either. Enjoy!

I personally can't stand Kerry. Gephardt would have made me a passive Bush supporter rather than an activist Kerry basher.

I can't stand Gephardt either. He's the crook responsible for keeping the polls open in St. Louis longer to ensure the dame Carnihan won that Senate race a few years back.

He's just as evil a partisan RAT as sKerry.

Now is the question is, can the democrat party aka Clinton not Clintons stop the run-away train they've created and have their brown shirts not vote? I would say the next two weeks will be very interesting.

Yo, guys. I didn't hear the remark in context, but could it be that Gibson was saying that it should have been Gore rather than Pres. Bush (not rather than Kerry)? My initial gut response is that this is a shot against Bush.

If for some bizarre reason we ended up with a campaign in which it came down to Bill Clinton vs John Kerry, I wouldn't just vote for Clinton, I'd be out there campaigning for him. That's how horrible I think Kerry would be for this nation as president.

I figure the clintons think they have it made. If Kerry loses, Hillary can set herself up as saviour of the DNC in 2008. If he wins, she can finagle a Supreme Court position, which might be far more dangerous in the long run.

I agree with you. Clinton is a murderer many times over, a big-time drug dealer, a rapist, a traitor who sold out to the Chinese, an oath breaker, a draft dodger, a man who choses his staff on the basis of their criminality. But he's still better than kerry, because at least he has a few grains of patriotism and common sense buried in their someplace.

Similarly I'd rather see Tony Soprano in charge of the country than Jimmy Carter.

That's because Clinton is a moral degenerate, but Kerry is a true socialist.

That's right; Clinton was only in it for himself; Kerry plans to bring along with him all the people who, back in the 60s, wanted to destroy this country, plus all the people from the Clinton years who didn't stand up for this country.

It's a horror almost too frightening to contemplate.

I've read the replies and don't see any remarks on the obvious (to me): Gibson put the lie to the media/dem line that the debate was a "draw" or even slight Kerry win (absurd). Gibson's statement was an acknowledgement that Kerry lost, period.

I completely disagree with his opinion that Gephardt could have won, either the debate or the election, but that's not the significance of the candid comment.

"Like someone said the other day, a Tony Blair type democrat that was strong on defense would have easily beaten Bush."

When you factor in the extreme Democratic Party bias of the mainstream news media, it is true that a Senator Breaux, Sam Nunn, or Zell Miller type of Democrat could have won in 2004.

...but have the Heartland elect the elite, effeminate gigolo/pretty-boy trial lawyer Senate duo from the East Coast??

Not a chance.

Nor could a pro-defense Yankee liberal like Lieberman have pulled it off for the Democrats. Nor could either of the wild-eyed men such as Dean or Gore won.

Can it be the Kennedys outfoxed the Clintons? Isn't it amazing how these Democrat Politicians can lie thru their teeth to us poor ignorant slobs but somehow believe there is trust among themselves. I don't think Dick Gephardt would be as bad as Kerry. At least I don't remember him having the same track record of supporting America's enemies. But I think he would have been a "miserable failure" as the nominee (to use his own favorite expression from the primaries). Anyway, as Dave Barry pointed out, the American people are never going to elect someone with no eyebrows as President.

Those Democrats have overwhelmingly lost, retired or switched to the GOP this past 10 years.

The "Democrat" you mention cannot possibly win a Democrat primary in 2004. That's how radicalized the RAT Party has become.

They don't have a guy like Tony. Joe Lieberman is a close as they get and he got trounced in the primaries. Now Miracle Joe is a great guy, and his head is screwed on straight vis-a-vis the WOT but he does lack looks and charm. Not that that should matter, but it does. They just don't got no Tony Blair, but we're damn lucky England does.

And kudos again to PM Howard on you brilliant re-election. Ah, the inspiriation for a new tag line:

Had Al Gore only endorsed Kerry instead then the Democrats wouldn't have been stuck with him and then the Clinton wing could have taken out Dean by some other means - after all everyone knows that a Gore endorsement is really an albatross. But all this still would have Left open the John "two Americas" Edwards possibility. The Dems were hosed from the get go...unless of course they're all conspiring to lose this thing but only attempt to put on their competitive (but abnormally long) faces just so that their core constituents don't feel betrayed.

Exactly. It's well known that just before the polls closed in St. Louis and KC, a Democrat operative, who assumed the identity of a man who had been dead for a decade, filed a discrimination suit before a judge, who just happened to be Lyin' Dick Gephardt's former campaign manager, to keep both cities' polls open so a dead man would be elected to the Senate in a close race. Algore actually appeared live on the local news to exhort people to continue to go to the polls even after a federal judge ordered the polls to be closed.

Yes, it's true. Bill Clinton never ran around acting like he hated America and wished he was French. But let's not forget, it was Bill Clinton who let OBL attack, and attack, and attack us, with relatvie impunity. And let's not forget, there's blame on our own side too. We held his feet to the fire over all the wrong things. But with hindsight all is clear. This election is about the future, and it is obvious that John F'in K. hates America as much as he ever did. For him to state otherwise is a lie, every single time he utters it.

If, three years after 9/11 this country elects an America-hating, traitorous, rich phoney to the office of commander-in-chief, well, I don't know what I'll do. But it sure as heck will contain some varient of getting the heck out of NJ, home away from home to Muslim terrorists.
