If Kerry really wanted to show off his machismo, he would get a swift boat on the Tigris and crew it with his traveling buddies for a cruise around Baghdad.

The weapon he is manning is a grenade launcher. M79 Mk 19 Mod 3, I believe.

Beautiful scenery, just imagine what Iraqi can be like when it is finally peaceful. It could well be the tourist haven of the middle east.

I'm really pleased that the Marines have taken over River Patrol duties from the Navy and I say that as a Navy VN River Rat.
Small boat patrol is all about weapons. The last thing that most Navy people know about is weapons. Even the Gunners Mates are trained on bigger stuff, like a 5", designed for use at sea or for shore bombardment. Small arms is a very tiny sideline to the Navy, but it's bread and butter to the Marines. To the Navy it's like AC-130s are to the Air Force.
