I don't think I remember someone getting whooped this bad. In fact, Chris Matthews indicated that Bush had a smirk, but Edwards looked on his face like he'd been physically smacked.

I challenge that the President must present things correctly. If he needs to slap sKerry around in a partisan way so what.If he keeps up with this "above the fray"mentality and does not adequately engage (read attack/assail/demolish) sKerry then he risks reelection and thusly any opportunity to save lives (Democrat and Republican alike).

Sometimes folks have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the right way of dealing with something so he absolutely has the right/duty to say any true thing to any liberal at any time to continue on the path to victory against the muderous Islamikazis.

I would furthermore state that WHILE we have brave servicemen and women in harms way the duty to DO WHAT IT TAKES is paramount in the C inC. He needs to have his moral clarity and utter belief in the path we are taking dripping off of him like the sweat on that lightwieght, Sledwards, brow.

I think the people need to see the Bush that said,"The people that did this are going to hear from all of us soon".While it seems silly to those of us that watch it closely, some of the swingers may be paying attention for the first time in a while. They don't only need to hear about a hardnosed warrior mentality, bent on the destruction of all who would do us harm , but they need to see it and see it and see it again right up until the polls close.

They need to know FOR CERTAIN, that a vote for sKerry puts the war on terror and thier very lives at risk. He wasn't a warrior in Nam, his time afterwards reeks of cowardice, his senate carreer is as mottled and vaccilating as the man himself and his capaign has just reiteratted all of these qualities.
So Bush is doing the right thing if he levels him in the next debate and the wrong thing if he "stays above it all".

It is best not to participate in these polls. It will swing the vote more than it is already and the networks would look ridiculous reporting a result like - Edwards 98% and Cheney 2%. MSNBC is already telling viewers that it is very unscientific poll.

Like the bad guys said after wounding Matt Dillon on one of those return to movies: " Those old wolves have a way of coming back to bite you."

She asked a question about a significant problem to the black community.

It is a significant problem for America. Gwen was talking about black WOMEN. I thought she asked the question of Cheney in an accusatory manner. She asked what the government was going to do about it. Cheney allowed that he did not know that the AIDS rate was so high for black women, but that rate of infection was going down as a whole. I guess that feeds the impression that GWB doesn't care about the black community, especially black women.

Edwards said he would double the funding on AIDS.

Yes, she did ask some good, tough questions of both of them, and I give her credit for that. For that reason alone she was vastly superior to Lehrer, with his "When did you stop beating your wife?" questions to President Bush, and his puffy little cotton balls that he lobbed so gently at Kerry. Still, she let Edwards get away with a lot of going over his time limit, going back to explain answers to questions that were already asked, going off on tangents not related to the questions, etc.

And letting Edwards get away with that despicable, underhanded ahot at the VP by using his daughter's homosexuality was inexcuseable. To his credit, Mr. Cheney handled that with far more class and dignity than I would have - I'd have come around that table and stomped Edwards into the ground.

In the end, though, it didn't matter - Dick Cheney demolished the Silky Pony.

Now I agree... With that as the standard, I have to agree Bush lost Night 1... If he can do HALF as good on Friday as Cheney did tonight, Kerry Edwards will be a footnote in the history books.

How can you say that in light of the major gaffes Kerry made? Bilateral talks with NK? Global Test? Iraq is not a mistake vrs President Bush's colossal errors in judgment in invading Iraq. Nuke fuel for the Mullahs???? I'm telling you Kerry lost the election Thursday night. It just confirmed what most Freepers have always know.

Kerry is a 9-10 candidate in a 9-11 world. You Freepers have just got to get over your media drive fixation on style.

"Was that "Your daughter is gay" remark about the lowest anyone has heard in the politcal realm?

YES. I cannot believe that the private life of VP Cheney's daughter was dragged into a national Vice Presidential Debate...(Mr Cheney was FAR TOO gracious in return.) I can't believe that nothing was said about it by Britt Humes follow-up panel either. Cheney must have stepped on Edwards head somewhere, because at that moment, we saw the underside of that trial-lawyer snake.

Ron "Finocchio" Reagan is applying what will become the Democratic mantra "this debate doesnt matter, it has changed no ones mind."

Which is spinmeister talk for "Edwards got his ass whupped".

Actually I was hoping Cheney would make note of the personal behavior aspect of it.

What can the government do?? Black women are getting AIDS too much in this country from either cheating husbands or their own promiscuity. I feel very bad for the poor wives who get it innocently. The others should save sex for marriage and pick really well. Unfortunately, black (and white) popular culture pushes casual sex into everyone's faces.
