He picked someone to exercise real power in the running of the executive branch.

Agreed

Have I told you how much I admire Rumsfeld? ;^)

What does Halliburton charge for gas over there? $2.25? Sounds like a good deal to me considering its a war zone.

ABC poll....a real poll.....not an online one.....shows a HUGE Cheney victory...

Call Gwen Ifill and think her for her good questions of both sides. She neither gave Cheney nor Edwards a pass on the tough questions and did not give either side the majority of the tough questions.

In short, she did what she should do.

Write her thanks here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/letters.html

...I would be happy with a Dick Cheney presidency. I've never seem him speak so well....

I agree. I said back in 2000 that Cheney and Lieberman should be the ones running for President instead of Bush and Gore. (don't get me wrong, I like Bush but Cheney is a much better communicator.)

"Please explain the "Senator Gone" thing. (I had to work during most of the debate.)"

Cheney referenced this as a name that the Breck Girl's local paper had begun referring to him by because of his lack of attendance as a Senator.

He made it sound like he was concerned for Cheney's daughter when in fact he wanted to point out her sexual preference, I think in an attempt to disaffect some on the far right.

Agreed. That was vile of Edwards to do.

"Cheney kicked his ass."

Cheney never kicks anyone's ass. He smiles and quietly severs his opponent's body parts, which no one notices until they bounce on the floor.

Well, if this was the early 1960's...see post 417 (I think...trying to follow too much)...

Edwards' dad COULD have conceivably taken math classes on television.

I suggest you find it online as soon as possible and watch it. It is fabulous.

I would say c-span.org should have it.

You expected that because that's what the MSM and the Dems have tried to lead us to believe.

No! I expected that because Freepers themselves call President Cheney an 'attack dog'. There is nothing wrong with that. I actually LIKE attack dogs - once they are on MY side, but they don't always translate for the undecided. I think VP Cheney was very measured.

I'd like to know how many times Edwards said "We have a plan..."

He sounds like Black Adder's Baldrick. "I have a cunning plan. So cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel."

My opinion ... FWIW ... Cheney was a class act. Even when I personally would have walked over and taken Breck girls head off for talking about my daughter ... Cheney was class. Edwierds on the other hand was the typical POS trial lawyer ...

Now that would have made for a drinking game. Referring to the college shot games they were to have tonight for the word "Halliburton".

I couldn't believe Fox calling dry and boring.

In short, how can an old fashioned ass-whipping compare with the usual breathless FOX coverage?

Edwards should count his lucky stars that Cheney (not a lawyer) wasn't opposing him on all those big enriching cases that he (Edwards) won.

the majority of the 5 million Americans who have lost their health insurance coverage have done so BY CHOICE

Actually the majority of the 5 million are now ensured by their new employers. The 5 million figure includes everyone who was out of work long enough to lose coverage. And... interestingly enough... almost all of them could have continued coverage under COBRA or HIPAA.

On a general topic...

In tonight's debate the split screen would have been to Edwards detriment and it's interesting that the networks chose tonight to go without it. CSPAN used the split, and throughout most of Cheney's comments you could see Edwards mugging and posturing in a way that showed him for the arrogant jerk that he is. Sometimes public perception turns on the smallest thing like Gore's 'stalking' moment and Bush staring him down. Edward's mugging had the potential to be just that sort of moment. Anyone who saw that split screen tonight would have a hard time liking him. Sadly, only CSPAN's viewers saw it.

Gwen Ifill did superb job.

IMO She did a terrible job. The selection of questions, the wording, and her few follow-ups showed her bias. I found her question to Cheney about gay marriage to be reprehensible. There was no need to personalize. It was asked so that she could point to differences between the President and Cheney. Where was there a similar question for Edwards showing his differences with Kerry? Cheney won despite the fact that it was two against one.
