Hehe. before they were screaming debates did change minds, now they are desperately praying they don't.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone believe voters minds were permanently changed as of tonight?

My position from the first debate was they were not. Kerry won Style, Bush won Substance, but neither but it away in that debate, though Kerry left himself open for attacks down the line such as his "Globel test" comment.

I'm not sure I fall into the line of thinking that any debate is going to sizeably register a permanent shift either way at this time. I think it's more a matter of small cuts up to election day that will finally push voters to make a decision Nov. 2nd.

I do think Cheney restored the slowed momentum of the Bush campaign, which is the most sizeabe victory tonight because it puts Dems back on Defense where we want them.

When Edwards was closing and said "Can you ever remember a time when this country was so divided?", I was SCREAMING at the TV, "YES!!! And it was John Kerry then, too!!!!" This is EXACTLY like it was in 1971!!!!

That's an excellent point and a terrific "in your face Kerry" comeback! I hope somebody picks up on that. They are just so darn reluctant to attack Kerry directly on what he did in 71!

There was a point int the Presidential debate when Kerry said, "We have to be careful not to confuse the warrior with the war" and I wanted W to throw it right back in his face! W needs to stop being Mr Nice Guy and go for the kill!

Kerry lied and good men died!

" I can't believe Lieberman is on CNN saying Edwards benefited from the exposure. LOL"

Of course Edwards benefited from his exposure at the debate tonight: he learned more about foreign policy in 90 minutes from VP Cheney than he ever learned as a Senator on the Intelligence committee. It's hard to learn anything when one doesn't bother showing up for work.

I give Gwen higher marks than her boss at PBS whatshisname Jim Lehrer. He was totally in Kerry's pocket.

Agree. That was a low blow on Edward's part that has just backfired.

I believe that he did. My husband disagreed at the time, so I can't be sure.

Good night all. I will sleep very well this evening.

The bitter memory of Thursday's failure are but a distant twinkle now. Tonight we saw the master at work. The John;s still probably don't know what hit them.

Now to dream that Bush will do just as he did in 2000, and come to life in the townhall debate setting.

C'mon George, Cheney has tied the game for you, it is time to step up to the plate and put this one away.

In perhaps the most awkward blooper of the evening, Cheney told Edwards to his face that they had never met before the debate, despite evidence they had.

Edwards' campaign later provided a transcript of a February 2001 prayer breakfast at which Cheney began his remarks by acknowledging the North Carolina senator. The campaign also said Cheney, in his capacity as Senate president, had sworn in Edwards.

Okay, class, what's wrong with that statement?????

I stand corrected. Krauthammer is smart and extraordinarily perceptive.

He might make up for the likes of Juan... but there are still too many lame-o's on Fox News.

If I could "pick" someone to be a father or grandfather figure, it would be Cheney. Don't know him personally, but it I think it would be great sitting and talking with him about things.

YES. I cannot believe that the private life of VP Cheney's daughter was dragged into a national Vice Presidential Debate...(

Gwen broight it up first--not Edwards. He could have showed some class and ignored it, but he wanted to win points by amplifying that Cheney and Bush don't agree on this issue. That was the point of Gwen's question.

Susan Estrich would give a deaf mute the edge in a debate if he was a Demoncrat.

The only thing that worries me is all the "new voters" that the Dems have signed up, particularly in Ohio and Florida. Then again, most of the people I see getting registered here in Seattle are homeless junkies, who usually can't be bothered to show up anywhere besides the needle exchange and the methadon clinic.
