Pretty cool.
...He gave my Son enough extra credit points to move his grade from a B+ to an A, and he has also been showing the documents to the other teachers in school.
Thanks Freepers"
The NEW MEDIA is destroying the OLD media's strangle hold on information.
Fellow FReepers, you are not only witnessing history, you are MAKING it!
Interesting that the teacher is showing the documents to the other teachers. Wouldn't you think they should already be aware of this?
What am I saying?!
Referring to an hour-by-hour record of a fetal heartbeat monitor, Mr. Edwards told the jury: "She said at 3, `I'm fine.' She said at 4, `I'm having a little trouble, but I'm doing O.K.' Five, she said, `I'm having problems.' At 5:30, she said, `I need out.'"
But the obstetrician, he argued in an artful blend of science and passion, failed to heed the call. By waiting 90 more minutes to perform a breech delivery, rather than immediately performing a Caesarean section, Mr. Edwards said, the doctor permanently damaged the girl's brain.
"She speaks to you through me," the lawyer went on in his closing argument. "And I have to tell you right now I didn't plan to talk about this right now I feel her. I feel her presence. She's inside me, and she's talking to you."
The jury came back with a $6.5 million verdict in the cerebral palsy case, and Mr. Edwards established his reputation as the state's most feared plaintiff's lawyer....
On the other side, insurance companies, business groups that support what they call tort reform and conservative commentators have accused Mr. Edwards of relying on questionable science in his trial work. Indeed, there is a growing medical debate over whether the changes have done more harm than good. Studies have found that the electronic fetal monitors now widely used during delivery often incorrectly signal distress, prompting many needless Caesarean deliveries, which carry the risks of major surgery.
The rise in such deliveries, to about 26 percent today from 6 percent in 1970, has failed to decrease the rate of cerebral palsy, scientists say. Studies indicate that in most cases, the disorder is caused by fetal brain injury long before labor begins.
An examination of Mr. Edwards's legal career also opens a window onto the world of personal injury litigation. In building his career, Mr. Edwards underbid other lawyers to win promising clients, sifted through several dozen expert witnesses to find one who would attest to his claims, and opposed state legislation that would have helped all families with brain-damaged children and not just those few who win big malpractice awards. ...
By the way, John Edwards also endorses the idea of community service for all high school students as a prerequisite to graduation. No service, no diploma. Check out this page:

Both Edwards and Kerry have proposed forced child labor. Look here:

"Just guessing, but if they did a poll of all public high school teachers, of the 10% that are conservative, I bet you that 80% of them are history teachers"
I'd say you are guessing. Conservatives make up more than 10% - at least in my area. More like 40.
BTW -Proud to have a picture of GWB on my desk. The screensaver on my desktop? - In God we trust.
wait,
edwards is channeling charlie rangles baby?
Thanks, neighbor!

Cool, though that isn't really history; it's current events.
For future reference and the best evaluations of presidents I have seen, I suggest the book titled Presidential Leadership. Edited by James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal and Leonard Leo of the Federalist Society. Included are perspectives on presidents during wartime, with the economy, as to the judicial branch and after close or contentious elections. It's the first book of its kind using a broader group of historians, political professors and economists to rank presidents. The books preface is written by Bill Bennett. I liked the chapter on John Kennedy written by Peggy Noonan and it begins a truthful legacy for Bill Clinton.
Encourage your children to keep a log of teacher statements that are either wrong, questionable or biased. This can be used for fact checking and followup. It is also good for parents to know what teachers are telling the children.
My 7th grader had a teacher fired years ago with such a report. (She was just stupid -- not political!)
Tell your son - Good Job!
And good job to you, raising an educated, informed young man.
Hope for the future, and another bullet in the gun.
Look, another bulletinthegun!
Rangel is a disgusting POS.Draft Fears Fueled by Inaccurate E-mails
Excerpts:
The bills are not being pushed. It's quite true that the two bills mentioned would require both men and women aged 18 through 25 to perform a two-year period of "national service," which incidentally could be either military or non-military service. But the bills are sponsored only by Democrats, and there's not the slightest evidence that the Bush administration is pushing for them, quietly or otherwise.
One bill is HR 163 , whose principle sponsor is Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel of New York. It has 14 co-sponsors, all of them Democrats in a Congress controlled by Republicans. The bill was dead on arrival: it sits in a House subcommittee with no hearings or votes scheduled and no action expected.
In fact, Rangel told FactCheck.org through his spokesman Emile Milne that even he isn't pushing for passage, let alone Bush (emphasis added):
Rep. Rangel: I'm not pushing this bill . It's up to the President to come to me when he needs it.
The identical Senate bill, S. 89 , introduced by Democratic Sen. Ernest Hollings, and also was DOA. Not one other senator has co-sponsored it. It also sits in committee with no action scheduled or expected.
Both bills in question were drawn up before the Iraq war started, mostly to make a political point. Rangel said he acted to highlight Democratic objections to use of military force against Saddam Hussein. He wrote , "I truly believe that decision-makers who support war would more readily feel the pain of conflict and appreciate the sacrifice of those on the front lines if their children were there, too."
FANTASTIC!
CONGRATS TO YOUR SON.
If I had income or cash to speak of, I'd buy him a new bike, stereo or computer or some such. Great work for his age. I hope he goes from height to height in his achievements and personal wisdom as well as continuing with his pluck.
This was my experience in a public high school and a liberal Christian college. Also among the students in the history classes. I wanted to be an English major at said liberal college, but the department was so liberal I couldn't tolerate it.
The history professors were a dream come true. One of them introduced me to The American Spectator.
Nice work. This speaks well of both your son and his teacher.
My daughter's Young Republicans Chapter is very vocal in defending our President - even in class discussions. I forward her FR postings every day for her arsenal. If we can get to them before they become skulls full of mush, we have a chance! By the way, could my daughter meet your son?
I think it's a far more amazing thing that your son can communicate with the brain dead.
