"Barrett also noted that all of the cards, which were submitted following the registration deadline in July, were carefully scrutinized to make sure no legitimate voter registrations were removed. None of the false cards made their way onto official voting lists."

if they were submitted AFTER the deadline . . . then NONE were legitimate . . . ??? IOW, there is still a problem in what they are doing.

but not so subtle that someone charged with ensuring that rules are followed, t's are crossed, and i's are dotted wouldn't notice or react! Grrr, what's with this? They get rid of the stink, but it still stinks!

State probes fraud

State election officials are currently investigating some 200 voter registration cards submitted to the Metro Election Commission sporting the names of people who do not exist.

The cards submitted following the registration deadline in July were discovered by Metro Election Commission employees and turned over to state elections coordinator Brook Thompson. The cards would have registered the non-existent citizens for the November general election.

The cards were allegedly the work of a temporary employee hired by consumer advocacy group Tennessee Citizen Action to push voter registration.
Thompson said his office is investigating the matter, and all evidence would be turned over to District Attorney General Torry Johnson. The alleged could face felony charges.

“This was done under the auspices of Citizen Action,” said Thompson. “Several appeared to have been filled out by the same person. It appears that these were names that were made up with names, addresses and Social Security numbers that were made up.

“It was evident enough to cause the data entry people to say ‘we have a problem.’”

Citizen Action wouldn’t disclose the name of the employee in question, but said he had been summarily fired upon discovery of the cards. The employee had not been paid for each registration, but by the hour, said officials.

The group has registered roughly 8,000 voters within the last two months in a non-partisan canvassing effort, say officials.

Metro Interim Administrator of Elections Ray Barrett says the cards looked as if they had been filled out with the same ink pen and that signatures on each looked alike. Barrett says the cards were carefully scrutinized to make sure that no legitimate voter registrations were removed.

“I don’t know why somebody would do something like that,” said Barrett of the cards.

Barrett and Thompson say Citizen Action has been effective [LOL...] in registering voters and that stricter safeguards had been put in place by the organization.
“It was just a bad apple that was caught,” said Thompson. [iow, "Shame on you for getting caught! Don't be so obvious next time!"]

Metro Councilman Erik Cole, who serves on the Citizen Action Board, said none of the cards made their way onto official voting lists.

Such incidents are rare, and the registration cards in question most likely weren’t linked to any particular candidate or campaign, Thompson said.

“There’s a method to help catch these kinds of things,” he said. “People don’t need to be afraid that voter fraud is rampant; it isn’t.”

“We’re appalled that this has occurred,” said Megan Macaraeg, the Tennessee Citizen Action executive director. “And as soon as we learned all the details we took all the appropriate measures to terminate the individual suspected of voter fraud.

“In response we have taken it upon ourselves to increase the control measures we have always had in place. We’re working with the election commission to tighten the net and we commend them for their vigilance.”

The commission is now preparing for the Nov. 2 presidential election, which could likely be the “highest turnout the county’s ever seen,” Barrett said. Roughly 4,000 voters registered just last week with that many or more signing up every week, he said.

[Looks like they were trying to put a happier face on it in this earlier article last month.]

Acc to http://www.nashville.gov/vote/voter_reg.htm:

"The completed registration forms must be postmarked or hand delivered to the election commission office 30 days before an election." -- which is how it is here in FL. So not sure what they meant by a July registration deadline.

Please Pass Emergency Anti-Vote Fraud Measure Immediately!

Vote fraud threatens the very core of our republic, and it directly threatens our sovereignty

Please send the following message to your Congressmen and Senators:

Please pass, on an expedited basis, emergency legislation to require voters to show ID at all polling places on Election Day.

Vote fraud threatens the very core of our republic, and it directly threatens our sovereignty. There is a significant amount of evidence emerging that evinces a wide-spread plot to engage in massive voter fraud. Thus, Congress must take immediate action to counter this potential menace.

Congress has the express power to dictate the time, place, and manner in which federal elections are held. The congressional power to make or alter time, place, or manner of federal elections extends to the regulation of voter registration. Federal regulation of the electoral processes, including the regulation of federal voter registration, is also consistent with the Tenth Amendment and permissible; although states do have broad discretion to enact and implement registration procedures, states may not transgress the Constitution. It follows that state voter registration and Election Day statutes that are inconsistent with federal voter registration and Election Day mandates are preempted.

As per the Federal Court in Byrd v. Brice, the government may require a voter to furnish proof of identity at the polling place on Election Day. Such a measure would go a long way in protecting citizens’ federal voting rights from fraudulent practices.

Please set to work immediately on enacting emergency legislation to require a valid ID at the polling places on Election Day.
