Marriage ban will be on November ballot (misleading title, but goodness wins one in Ohio!!!)

Opponents end their petition challenges

by Eric Resnick

Columbus--“The challenges are over. There’s nothing that will alter the fact that they will have sufficient signatures to put the amendment on the ballot,” said Alan Melamed, who heads Ohioans Protecting the Constitution’s campaign to defeat a marriage ban amendment.

The proposed Ohio constitutional amendment, resulting from a petition drive, will be on the November ballot as Issue 1. It would ban same-sex marriages, civil unions and anything that “intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance or effect of marriage.”

Melamed said the decision not to file any new lawsuits to try to block the measure from getting on the ballot was reached after careful consideration September 21. The day before, the Tenth District Court of Appeals in Columbus denied a move to force Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to withdraw his certification of the measure’s petitions because they lack a required summary.

I'm almost sorry to have to post a link to the source, but coming from the "Gay Peoples Chronicle" explains their panicky title.

Bottom line is, WE DID IT!!! The homo-nazis have given up their pathetic efforts to block the Ohio Marriage Amendment from reaching the ballot.

Praise God!!!

Homosexual Agenda/Good News Ping!

It's hard to imagine that a large number of people will vote to protect traditional (also known as "real") marriage and at the same time vote for Kerry.

May the Ohio vote be a landslide, like all the others have been.

Let me and Scripter know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.

I'm with you 100%. I will keep my fingers crossed that the Ohio vote goes as you predict (or better). If every state in which the subject comes up votes with large margins for a ban on homosexual marriage, it will send the kind of message many weak kneed politicians can clearly understand (i.e., get on board, or get taken out of office).

Good news for sure, BUT, unless we get a U.S Constitutional amendment of that kind passed and ratified the liberal federal courts will eventually rule that the "full faith and credit" clause of the U.S. Constitution requires all states to honor homo marriages from states which allow them. All 2 homos would have to do is go to a state such as MA to be married, then return to their own state to live there united in a perfectly legal marriage.

The issue will never be settled for good until Congress passes the amendment and 38 states ratify it. An amendment to the U.S. Constitution requires the approval of 2/3 of Congress, which means 67 votes in the Senate. The proposed amendment passed in the house and might have passed in the Senate if it had not been blocked by a small group of Democrat Senators. The Democrats who blocked passage of the amendment in this session must be removed from office before the final nail can be driven in the homo marriage coffin.

This just underscores for me why "pro-business" doesn't always mean "pro-family."

To support homo marriage just because businesses or public officials fear losing their revenue is absolutely unconscionable!

Creeps like Mayors Coleman and Campbell are letting their greed cloud out their common sense. And the whole "we won't be able to attract new businesses" (from public officials) and "we won't be able to recruit talented workers" (from businesses) is all such a huge, megalo-sized crock of crap!!!!!

The one guy in this article who makes the most sense is our awesome Secretary of State, Ken Blackwell: "Those who wish to make Ohio more attractive to business...need to lower tax rates and streamline government regulations."

Amen!

Exactly, The new poster has sent me a rebuttal via FReepmail. I will repost his/her?? argument here on the forum and request that in the future "TWO WOLVES" Keep the debate in the forum and not in FReepmail.

Here's the message from the FReepmail...

Wanna tell me again that Christians know better?

The post was accurate. If you don't like what I have to say, that's fine. But don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. >>>>>

Response in forum .... RE:Leviticus 20:13

You do not know what you are talking about.

Here's why,
As a Biblical Literalist, I always look at the context of a verse in order to interpret it's meaning. In Leviticus 18, homosexuality is one of three sins mentioned, each given equal precedence as sinful. In order, God condemns child sacrifice (shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire), homosexuality (shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind), and bestiality (Neither shalt thou lie with any beast). God then groups all three sins under the same warning: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you. In other words, God said "I destroyed the other nations that used to be in this land because of these sins, and the same warning applies to you"!

Bible illiterate Gay Homosexual Theologians teach that if this law still stands, then the dietary prohibitions on eating lobster, rare steak, rabbit, and so forth also still stands. Finally, they say, if the law against Homosexuality is reinstated, then the punishment of death by stoning is still valid.

As to the Gay Homosexual theologian charge that the dietary laws would have to be enforced if we enforce the Levitical code against homosexuality, this is mere smoke and mirrors. First, the dietary laws are not even represented in these Bible texts. Second, the dietary laws were just that, dietary laws, they were not moral laws (which the above texts represent). God Himself rescinded the dietary laws (Acts 10.14-15). But He never rescinded the command against these sins, in particular, the sin of homosexuality.

Finally, the reason that homosexuality (like adultery and incest) is no longer a sin that you must be stoned for is that we live in the era of Grace. Christ paid the penalty for all sin on the Cross of Calvary, even the sin of the homosexual. In this era we do not stone sinners, we preach the Gospel of Christ to them. The homosexual, like the adulterer, needs the salvation that Christ can bring. They do not need to be stoned, they need to be saved so that they can "go and sin no more".

Hello! Do any of you know how to read? I said, "IF we still lived under Old Testament law...", thereby acknowledging:

1) We do NOT still live under Old Testament law, and, as a corrolary,
2) executing homosexuals is no longer considered appropriate.

I was simply pointing out that under the old law, none of the problems that we are going through now would even have existed.

Next time, try reading ALL the words. (The little ones, too).

I guess I should add a little more to this, to address your points.

IF we were still under the Old Covenant, it would be because... (anyone? anyone?) the New Covenant had not been given yet. Therefore:
1) Your Age of Grace argument would not apply,
2) We would still be under the WHOLE law (therefore, your second argument would not apply), and
3) Leviticus 20:13 would still be in effect.

I am aware of all of your arguments. And as far as I can see, your arguments are all valid in the present age. But given that I was postulating a different set of circumstances, your arguments, while well reasoned and well presented, were a complete waste of time.

Now the homosexuals are tying to say this will prohibit cohabitation agreements. THIS IS WRONG! This amendment does not affect private contracts.

Sheaprd Smith had a report on the state that just pass such and amendment which had such a faux complication as the main theme.

Homosexuals have only fear.

Regardless of what happens when this passes, the homosexuals WILL work to transfere Mass. homosexual marriage to Ohio and the the FEDERAL constitution WILL force ohio to recognize homosexual marriage with or without this amendment.

If we still lived under Old Testament law...

Newsflash: we now live under a New Covenant. This is the covenant of grace, made available to us by Christ's atoning sacrifice at Calvary.

Sodomy is still sin, but today we preach repentance to homosexuals—just like any other sinner—so that they may abandon their ungodly ways and accept life in Christ.

Those who refuse God's mercy will receive His judgment in due course, and you can bet there'll be some loud “D'Oh!”s preceding the wailing of the wicked before the Great White Throne.

Anyway, let the judging be done by God. It's our job to change hearts and win converts to Him.
