Where is this "conflict"? Thornburg is investigating CBS/Dan Rather/60 Minutes/Kerry Campaign not Karl Rove or the Bush campaign/White House.
Or, in somebody's twisted little mind, Thornburg will perform a subpar investigation in order to spite Karl Rove? I'm not too sure I can follow any logic here...
