Hillary Clinton means to be President of the United States. Bill Clinton means to be the power behind the throne, the chief consigliere.

John Kerry cannot be allowed to throw a monkey wrench into their plans.

When the history of this campaign is written, we will find that Clinton operatives convinced the Kerry people that it would be a neat idea to attack Bush's guard service. We will also find that they vouched for the forgeries, that they encouraged the Kerry folks to build a campaign on them. We will find that they were instrumental in making sure that Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth stayed alive after the first broadcasts of the initial commercial in the Midwest. We will find that they were leaking information about Kerry's tactical moves to the Bush campaign, in return for a favor to be called in by Hillary later. Finally, we will find that Clinton folks within the media encouraged other MSM outfits to attack CBS once their flanks were exposed.

Ickes, Carville, and Begala owe their loyalties to one family, and one family alone.

The only thing that is needed now is for us in the Pubbie Party to come up with an alternative to Hillary. Do not let anyone fool you, she will be a formidable candidate, and she will run as a centrist.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I agree that HRC means to be president. I agree that she would look for opportunities to undermine Kerry. The difference between our views is that I think that she was waiting for the right moment to leak bad information about Edwards (the thorn in her flesh) and we saw the stories about his D&D brother soon after becoming the vice presidential candidate. But with Kerry, I think that she was waiting for the right opportunity to undermine his candidacy. The good news for her is that SwiftVets did it for her around the convention. Why expend energy and resources when you don't have to?

Regarding the advice rendered-- I think that the refrain of "it's domestic policy stupid" was recommended in part because that's the perspective of the most useless man in America. Why would he want to undermine his own authority in the party? And as much as both want Kerry to lose, they absolutely do not want to lose ground in the Senate or the House. Immediately after the convention, there was a lot of optimism that Dem candidates would do well all around.

The other part is that the Dems honestly don't know how to deal with terrorism without appeasement, which in effect is their resounding yes to fascism wherever it may start. So a domestic agenda is all they have, and even then the coalition is stretched to the limit.

But I think Clinton is also politically savvy enough to know that Kerry can't let go of any criticism. Clinton is thin skinned in the same way. This poses a field advantage to HRC.

I think the other part of this situation is that 42 is profoundly jealous of Bush and how he will be viewed in history. This is what he can't let go of, even though Bush's choices are logical consequences of Clinton's failures.

Good post! However, Edwards is a lightweight, and little more than an irritant in HRC's side. I really believe that HRC's target this year was Kerry.
