Alert!

There are very strong indications that Eizat Aldori the deputy of Saddam has been arrested near Tikrit!

After his arrest by the Iraqi Police and the US forces, 150 members of his guards tried to free him but most of them either killed or escaped.

More details later!

Congratulations for the victims of Abo-Al-Thaleg!

Bodansky insists that some of the WMDs are still in iraq, in underground bunkers we have not been able to find. its impossible to search an entire country for such a facility.

New Leads In Hunt For Saddam's Fugitive Deputy: Police
AFP: 9/4/2004

TIKRIT, Iraq, Sept 4 (AFP) - US forces have stepped up their hunt for Saddam Hussein's deputy, Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri, the most senior member of the ousted regime still at large, Iraqi police said Saturday.

The US military said they were always on the lookout for the former number two, who has a 10 million dollar US bounty on his head, but insisted the overnight operation targeted militants who had fired mortars on a US base.

"US tanks, helicopters and planes have been looking for Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri since last night," police Lieutenant Mohammed Jassem told AFP.

He said the search had focused on neighbourhoods east of Saddam's hometown of Tikrit following information Ibrahim recently had a blood transfusion in a local clinic.

Witnesses added that US troops patrolling the town had been displaying pictures of Ibrahim in different guises, wearing in turn his military uniform, traditional Arab clothes... and a Stetson hat.

He is ranked number six in the deck of cards of most wanted officials issued after last year's US-led invasion.

The US military placed the massive bounty on his head last year, accusing him of financing insurgent groups.

"We're looking for all sorts of people," said Major Neal O'Brien, a spokesman for the US military in Tikrit, stressing that operations conducted in the past 24 hours had led only to the capture of three Iraqis suspected of carrying out mortar attacks.

While I'll agree it is possible that perhaps we haven't found certain bunkers....I think it is doubtful by this time -

But the bigger point is....Saddam had the capabilities to produce WMD - and much of the bio and Chemical stuff...has a fairly short-shelf life.....therefore just having the capabilities was to much of a threat for us to allow - It is that simple -

Removing Saddam has made the world safer.

No - I agree that it is "possible" ...my point is....I think someone would have "talked" by now...and alerted us to these "small bunkers" - I mean we have captured about 45 + of the 55 most wanted in Iraq - (and none of them talk??...I find that odd) -

But the bigger point is...Saddam had the capabilities to produce WMD - After 9-11 we could no longer allow Saddam to remain a threat via WMD capabilities and his ties to supporting terrorism - We had to act and GWB did the right thing! - Period.

Because of our action freedom and self-worth are taking hold in Iraq - Both of these have been denied to the citizens of the Middle East for far to long -

A Kuwaiti Foreign Minister tried to interrupt, prompting Mr Ibrahim to shout: “Sit down, you minion, you agent[U.S]. Shut up you monkey!!” “A curse on your moustache!,” Mr Ibrahim concluded,

You know, I get really ticked off when I hear some liberal clap trap go on and on that Saddam has no WMD's. You know, Canada does not have them either! But everyone knows Canada can produce them if it wishes. The issue is INTENT. This POS in Iraq had the intent to build (he already did!) and use them. Case closed.

"Hmmm... could the police recruit bombing in Kirkuk have been in retaliation for getting Al-Douri? Anxiously awaiting any updates/confirmation..."

Could you give me more details about what you just said?

I have a good friend working over there. He just did six months of work South of Baghdad where he said it was relativly safe. He signed up to go back thinking he would be in the south again but they sent him to Kirkuk. I understand he carries an AK47, handgun, and wears a life jacket all the time.

Thanks for the heads up.

the list has been sitting at 10 most wanted since mid February

I see its been two hours and no confirmation or even a
repeat of the story elsewhere yet.

I'll dust off 'the list' and keep an eye open for him. thanks all.
