Trouble on the campaign trail. A bad day to be a Kerry supporter.
Best of the web | August 31, 2004 | James Taranto

James Taranto of Best of the Web found this entry on the Democratic Underground website:

“I had a horrible experience canvassing today. We went out canvassing Democrats today to ask them to support Kerry and our local candidates. We were in apartment complexes and lower middle class housing. The young Democrats living there told us they were voting for Bush! We even met a young marine who said he was just back from Iraq and supports the war, which is why he is voting for Bush. These people have nothing and they are the ones Bush is hurting the most, and yet they support him. And they are registered Dems and young. Why is this happening. I thought our base was solid. This is very frightening. We walked for five hours and only met two people who supported Kerry on our Democratic list! What does this mean?”

What it means is the margin in favor of Bush may be much larger than the current polls are showing.

lol these poor folks are clueless. I had a young man knock on my door asking if he could get my support for Capri Cafano (local girl with lots of money who is trying to buy her way into office against Republican Steve LaTourette) I just laughed at him, he had that deer in the headlight look and said "oh you've heard of her".

Great post. Interstingly enough, each Marine in my son's squad of twelve, A/1/5, just returned from Iraq, told me at a squad party upon their return they were for Bush. I asked each of them privately out of earshot of the others so there'd be no peer pressure.

"These people have nothing and they are the ones Bush is hurting the most, and yet they support him."

Right! They have everything to gain with Bush, and everything to lose with Kerry...DUH!

Welcome to the real world, bucko.

This is a revealing comment. A freeper posted the exact same DU quote on a Live Thread a day or two ago. As always, FR rocks.

LOL! I guess it means that you'd better not target that precinct for the "knock and drag" operation on election day, because the Dems on your list may all be Bush supporters.

Must be pretty sad to live in this guy's fantasy world.

We even met a young marine who said he was just back from Iraq and supports the war,...
Imgaine a soldier who has FIRST HAND experience what is going on in Iraq and understands why we are there

These people have nothing
Imagine people taking responsibility for their own lot in life.

And they are registered Dems and young
That does not automatically make you stupid and uninformed

I thought our base was solid.
The Titanic couldn't sink either!!!

This is very frightening
Yes, you should be. Not for the reason you think, but because you are going though life clueless.

Remember this could have been a Republican posting on DU. This race is far from over and all the Dems have to do is keep it close and the Democrat vote fraud machine goes into full effect and the Dems will win.
