Well, Shep Smith is no great genius either.

The GOP should keep Bo away from the microphones.

actually, there is a slime chance the soviet union might still be together if not for the resistance the US helped afghanistan put up. That war was their 'vietnam'. Our assistance there also helped speed up the collapse of the evil empire. Bo is right on in regards to this.

If it wasn't for us they would have been part of the Soviet Union.

Now they`re part of France and the Democ-rats... At least philosophically.

The Soviets had a satellite state in Yemen.

Actually, she's wrong. Most of the people who make up al Qaeda would still be sitting in Saudi Arabia.

AQ's a blanket group with lots of nationalities, many of whom, be they Egyptian, Saudi, or Jordanian, happened to be in Afghanistan fighting the Soviets.

I know this sound like BS, but I used to date bo. In fact, we were engaged for a while, but she was really too jealous of every girl I even looked at, so I broke it off.

She is right about Afganistan, but not Al Quada. She is thinking about the Taliban which supported Al Quada but was not a part of the group.

Osama was in the Sudan shopping for a place to go. he would not have gone to Afgan if it were a Soviet Satellite. My guess is he would have gone to Tunis or Morocco, or West Africa somewhere.

She's absolutely correct. Sometimes it's difficult to understand genius.

BTW, any pictures?

Ever watch "Bolero"? Worst. Actress. EVER. That being said, I would have ridden a motorcycle blindfolded in the rain for a shot at her.

Bo Derek was interviewed by Shep Smith of Fox News and said that she couldn't understand why Al-Qaeda is attacking us. If it wasn't for us they would have been part of the Soviet Union.

I love Bo, but she's such a Zo.

She's right. We sold them Stinger missiles in the 80's which gave them a defense against Soviet air superiority.

Stamn draight. I still remember leftist S.F. Chronicle cartoonist Tom Meyer depiction of the effect of the USA-supplied Stingers. For three of the first of a four-panel cartoon, a stereotypical Russian soldier in a star-besteckled uniform slugged, kicked, and stomped on a man in a turban (representing Afghan resistence). In the fourth panel, the Afghan points a Stinger launcher at the Russkie. He then screamed, "CEASE FIRE!" at the top of his lungs.

Meyer nowadays is among the most virulent Bush-hating cartoonists, depicting him with a pin head that doesn't rise above his elongated ears. And of course, he's one of those guys who now blames the USA for arming the Afghans and thus bin Laden.

The question is...did she 'break it off,' if you know what I mean and I think you do.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

No, Al-Qaeda might have found a home in Afghanistan, they started in Africa and have drawn from all over the Middle East.

The US did check the Soviet's ambitions and there are several people in the world that should thank us for what we did but with what she was talking about she really didn't appear to know too much about the subject matter.
