If the Legionnaires are 3:1 for Bush, they shouldn't be telling the liberal media that they don't care about the Swift Boat controversy.

This is one tough election, and everyone on our side should be on-message.

The people they interviewed sure don't appear to reflect Legion membership, if this survey is any indication:

An unscientific Internet survey at the booth is asking Legionnaires who have read interviews with the candidates how they'll vote. Through Friday afternoon, the numbers showed Bush favored by 73.1 percent and Kerry by 26.9 percent.

Agree. IMO It been beat to death, and has become the brunt of talk show jokes, while most others just roll their eyes. Enough of this bull sh*t. Get to the damn issues.

It *is* an issue. Kerry made Vietnam the centerpiece of his entire campaign, and it's entirely valid to find out if he's telling the truth or not.

Well, there has been saturation coverage

I'll agree with that. I am just saying most folks have had their fill of it. It gets old going down memory lane 35 years ago, day after day, while those on both side have turned this into a three ring circus. All this while the *real* issues, facing us right here, right now, have taken a back seat.

Yep, it's an issue that reveals the character (or lack thereof) of a Presidential candidate who may very well be leading us during one of the most critical moments in our history, so it's vitally important we get to the bottom of it.

Problem is that if it all of a sudden disappeared from the news we'd be back to being subjected to Laci/Scott/Kobe coverage 24/7.

Exactly. Besides, what more "important" things will the media cover, if not this story? All Abu All The Time? Scott Peterson? Paris Hilton?

I don't think the discussion of a candidate running for POTUS who was a communist sympathizer should ever end,,,,,,,,,,,

If it can't be determined that Kerry was telling the truth about his Vietnam service, was is the purpose of talking about "the real issues"? He will only lie about his position on the issues. This needs to play out. Why would anyone want to hear John Kerry talk on the issues of the economy, jobs, military if it has been proven (and I think it has been) that he takes his positions on a daily basis depending on which group he is talking to. Kerry has and still is lieing about his service, his medals and about all the vets who served in the Vietnam War. Why does it matter what positions he takes on any given subject, if he can't be trusted?

"Legionnaire Frankie Smith of Alabama said he thinks more veterans will vote in this election than in years past because of the way they've been treated by under-funded Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals."

A blantant piece of ignorance promulgated by an ignorant newswriter.

My thoughts exactly plus this gem: ""It should be a nonissue," said Mike Seidel of Florida, who hasn't decided which candidate to support." I guess some people thinks this deliberation of who to vote for makes them look smart, thoughtful or something positive but if you haven't figured out such a black and white issue at this time in our history we should institute some sort of IQ test in order to vote. Sheesh.

Why does this smell like a media attempt to find one or two Legion members who will say what they want to hear and have them speak for all Legion members? If Legion members support Bush by 76 percent I have a very difficult time believing they don't want hear about the Swiftvets anymore.

This article is rubbish, I am a Vietnam Vet living in NH and there is a local Legion Hall in Exeter. One of my auto mechanics, also a Vietnam Vet, practically lives in the place. I happened upon him at the station where he works and the topic turned to Monsieur Kerrie. The first thing out of his mouth was:

"Kerry is a piece of S---!"

Now this struck me as interesting because this guy is about as apolitical as it gets. In 15 years he has never uttered a thing about politics or a candidate. Anyway, he went on to say that EVERYONE in the Legion hall was up in arms over Kerry, that they supported the Swift Vets and that Kerry had absolutely NO SUPPORT among the veterans there.

To show you how much Kerry is despised, the VFW Legion hall has 3 TV's running all the time over the bar and pool table, in the evening I have NEVER seen them off and I walk by the place every other day (exercise). I happened to be walking the night Kerry gave his acceptance speech live and went right by the hall at the exact time he was giving his speech. There are windows facing the street and I decided to see if the vets were paying any attention to this guy, seeing as Exeter tends to be a very liberal community. Well, I looked in and EVERY ONE OF THE TV's HAD BEEN TURNED OFF and everyone I could see was otherwise occupied.

The main premise of this article is false, the vets I know are up in arms over Kerry because of his actions against them when he returned from Vietnam. They don't "want Vietnam to go away," Kerry besmirched their honor and they want to set the record straight!

This has nothing to do with Bush and everything to do with truth, honor and Kerry's traitorous actions. We lost in Vietnam because of Kerry and his ilk, and now he is making himself out to be a "hero" to generations who were not around in 68 through the early 70's, while the rest of us, according to Kerry, were and are war criminals. The Vietnam vets know he lied in the past, they are not going to allow him to lie now and get away with it. The truth concerning JF'n Kerry is not going to be swept under the carpet this time and THIS IS NOT GONG TO GO AWAY, NEITHER ARE THE VIETNAM VETS GOING TO "MOVE ON" and talk about something else because it is NOT about politics, it is about truth, honor, OUR reputations and setting the record straight for posterity.

"Heck, I'm getting tired of this story too...Swifties should take next week off..."

But Kerry is plunging in the polls, because of the Swiftees.

Keep it up!!!

Blame Kerry, he started it. He lied, he has nothing to base his life on except rolling over on his fellow vets, and false medals. At least that 's what I keep reading...

I wanna see Kerry pummeled over his leftist voting record next week.

I'm not tired of the Swifties, they have their job to do, and they're doing it well. There's 30+ years of hard feelings that have to be considered here, and I think most Americans understand that.

I believe the President and his campaign folks know what their emphasis should be. In fact, though we haven't heard much about it, Kerry's Senate record HAS been the campaign focus! I think they'll hammer him next week. I can't wait to see it!
