I had the honor of going to a fund raiser this morning for Kris Kobach, who is running in the 3rd district in Kansas against Dennis Moore. Dick Cheney was the featured speaker.
Wonder how much money he raised. Campaign's been quiet since beating Taff (as far as ads go). I figured he spent all his money on the primaries. Let's hope the $$ is rolling in.....
It was an overflow crowd... first two ranks of tables werer the $2000 a pop crowd. The rest of the room was minimum $250/each. I did hear that he's way behind Moore though who gets all the EMILY type money.

Isn't Cheney great?! I admire the man more ever day.
Very cool. Did you recognize anyone? Specifically, any moderate Republicans?
Cool. It was out of my price range, but I'll keep sending him money little by little.
what do the polls look like in that race?
What a very great man and enthusiastic campaigner.
I also had a great conversation with Kris' parents who were in attendance but didn't have the good fortune to experience any protesters. They must have left during the deluge of rain.
I understand from Kris' campaign worker that the even had hoped to raise about $250,000 and they surpassed that by quite a bit.
They will will be the ones signing on to Moore's "Republicans for Moore" ads. Actually, they only supported Taff because he was a younger Moore with an R after his name. They were the ones who voted for Taff last primary then switched and supported Moore in the general election.
How much money is needed to run a race for the 3rd congressional district? Are there debates scheduled?
You met privately with the VP? Wow.
I kook so forward to the sight of Cheney cleaning Edward's clock with his low-key experience, humor, wit and charm. He's spent many years around D.C. pols and can handle anything that the Kerry/Edwards smear campaign (as a former Secretary of Defense in the 1st Gulf War,) can send his way with ease.
Yet again, proof read before posting. Meant to state that I look not kook (I usually do that too only I refer to it as cook.)
Hey, on 980 kmbz they're saying that Cheney spoke more about the Bush administration and their successes than promoting Kobach. I'm sure this is the usual exxageration. Since you were there, please set the record straight. Thanks :)
I think even Taff is too conservative for those folks.
I know the Mainstream Coalition. It was more than a year ago, but I attended one of their meetings. They said Ruth Bader Ginsburg's a moderate Supreme Court justice. They're a bunch of crazies.
The MC endorsed Taff last time in the primary, then Moore in the general. Oh, and watch out for that list of "Republicans" for Moore. Go through each one and tell me exactly how many Republicans these "Republicans" have ever supported. I know many who were "Republicans" for Howard Dean/Wesley Clark/John Kerry. It's very dishonest, but, well, we're talking about the left.
Btw, the campaign manager for Rob Boyer now has a Dennis Moore sign in his yard. Very frustrating.
He did a lot of talking about Kris. I'm sure it was from a script was a lot of his references to local stuff because bless his heart, he has to have people where he is when he wakes up in the morning. And he had been out at the Chief's game and it thundered all night... so he had to have been tired.
