When the story first broke, my local ABC affiliate spun it from the angle of John McCain: "McCain condemns these attack ads as being the same type of dirty campaign waged against him when he ran against George Bush". End of story.

Did you hear Dick Morris on Fox tonight? He said that an unnamed Senator said that SKerry didn't like to work late.

The man is just LAZY.

I'm curious about what caused Rassmann to fall into the water also. I also have the feeling it had to do with Kerry's response to the mine explosion across the river from his postion.

Here are some other questions for Rassmann from a post on the SBVT site:

The questions Mr. Rassmann needs to be asked are:

1. How long were you in the water?

2. How long did the rescue of the 3 boat take? (O'Neill has said it took an hour-and-a-half)

3. Assuming it took Kerry ten minutes or so to return to the scene, and perhaps another five minutes to maneuver and to retrieve you from the water, what did you do for the next hour-and-fifteen minutes? Did you dry yourself off? Did you attempt to grab a weapon and return fire? Did you assist in the rescue of the 3 boat? Did you hide below decks?

4. Were you wearing any floatation gear when you fell into the river? If so, how did you swim to the bottom of the river?

5. If you were taking hostile fire for the entire hour-and-a-half this operation endured, how can you explain the absence of injuries (from hostile fire) and the absence of bullet damage to any of the boats?

6. I ask you again, Mr. Rassmann, are you still certain that, "The fighting continued until we got out of the kill zone, and we managed to get out to the Gulf of Siam."

The person who wrote Cleland blew himself up with his own grenade is a moron. How can you be so naive as to make such a claim when military records show it was someone else's grenade. Someone who came forward decades later. Military training is what prompted him to pick up the grenade - you never leave one on the battle field.

find some factual evidence to back up your preposterous claims.

You may want to take that up with Mr. Cleland ...

Enjoy your stay. Play nice.

Grenade Explosion Accident. In his own words,

On April 8, 1968, I volunteered for one last mission. The helicopter moved in low. The troops jumped out with M16 rifles in hand as we crouched low to the ground to avoid the helicopter blades. Then I saw the grenade. It was where the chopper had lifted off. It must be mine, I thought. Grenades had fallen off my web gear before. Shifting the M16 to my left hand and holding it behind me, I bent down to pick up the grenade. A blinding explosion threw me backwards.
