Whomever wrote it was ignorant enough to think he was writing a sarcastic and blasphemous song.

Thanks for the good remark. I was afraid that my comment would bring in
a lot of well-meaning folks who'd savage me over fine points of theology.
And I haven't done any sort of apologetic analysis of the lyrics.

BUT, when Cash sings it, you can't help hearing a person who's hit bottom
and KNOWS it.
I need to go buy the CD with Cash's rendition...I've only heard the first minute or so
because it gets played as intro/bumper music on "The Jesus Show" on KFI 640AM
(www.kfr640.com) in Los Angeles.

Sometimes our own psychic pain keeps us finding and/or making contact with the people we most need to find.

Sometimes our own psychic pain, (or maybe something else), makes us do asinine things that hurt and drive away the good people we come in contact with.

Not that anyone around here would have necessarily done that.
