Portrait of Dubya as sucker puncher
Boston Herald ^ | 8/12/04 | David R. Guarino

Posted on 08/12/2004 1:14:40 AM PDT by kattracks

To his critics, George W. Bush is a cowboy bully who bent the rules to get ahead, and even to win the presidency.

Now, they may have proof the ``bad boy'' image goes way back.

A newly unearthed photo shows a college-aged Bush grabbing a fellow rugby player in a head tackle with Bush's right arm cocked to give an upper-cut punch.

The caption in the 1969 Yale yearbook notes: ``George Bush delivers illegal, but gratifying right hook to opposing ball carrier.''

Published in the Los Angeles Times Monday with an opinion column by 1969 Yale grad Jim Sleeper, the photo quickly became fodder on the Internet.

A posting on the liberal blog thismodernworld.com by Bob Harris compares the image with recent attacks on John F. Kerry's military record.

``As long as we're re-examining the 1960s, looking for signs of character . . . here's George W. Bush during his college days, hitting a fellow sportsman in the face,'' Harris wrote.

Compare this to Kerry giving sworn testimony, which he now refutes, that American troops, who were still fighting in Vietnam, were all criminals and committing atrocities as a matter of course.

Talk about desperation!

there's another post for this..

but the best comparison i've seen is the one where Kerry is catching a football... he throws and catches like a girl.

So let's see...now the Leftists are comparing the playing of a sport to another's military record??

Oh Lord, thank you for making my enemies ridiculous!

Where's the picture? We can stick Kerry's ugly mug on the other player getting slugged (Nov.2).

I just looked at it, and it certainly isn't positive that he's delivering a punch. He could have been about to wrestle the guy to the ground (like Teraaaaaaayza did to Effin in Arizona the other night), or he could have been pulling away (like Teraaaaayza did the other night in Arizona - seperate suites!). ;-)

Freeper comments on the Effin/Teraaaayza Hubbub:

Democrat presidential hopeful John Kerry and his wife got into a heated argument after a campaign rally in Arizona Sunday night -- a heated argument so hot they spent the night in different rooms!

A well-placed law enforcement source tells DRUDGE how Kerry and Teresa Heinz moved to separate suites at Flagstaff's Little America Hotel.

*********

* Trouble in paradise. I guess Tah-ray-zuh got mad because Effin didn`t clean his room.

* Someone please call the UN to negotiate.

* Kerry asked for too much allowance this week.

* Maybe he has "Battered Husband Syndrome". Wouldn't surprise me. She's a brute.

* To be serious, maybe Tah-ray-zuh had a meltdown over Johnny Boy's constant Vietnam fabrications that are now threatening to derail his campaign.

* "Scambodia" really got to her!

* "John, take your campaign and shove it!"

* I hope she didn't hit him. I can see another Purple Heart coming up!

* Maybe she walked in and caught him and the "Breck girl" in a...ahhm...compromising situation.

* Kerry has probably faced more enemy fire in his marriage(s) than he ever did in Vietnam.

* Teraaaayza: "I could have bought you Cambodia, if you had just kept your damned mouth shut."

* I am guessing that for the first time in their marriage they are spending a lot of time together, and it's getting to the both of them. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Mrs. Heinz scampering back to a mansion or two shortly for some much needed "R&R". We knew she couldn't take much more. Chili, hotel rooms, reporters and sucking up to all those icky little people.

``George Bush delivers illegal, but gratifying right hook to opposing ball carrier.''

Hey at least it wsnt staged on a movie set it just proves ol` George is more real than ever proves hes not going to be pushed around or let someone else dictate the score.

A bully ? NO !

A hero ? to some maybe but NO!

A man ? Hell yes more real than the feminized edition being created by this liberal media that reports on him !

I saw the picture. W is a man and he is competitive and will win.

I notice the 'rats have to advertise that Kerry is an "Alpha-male" as they did Algore. Bunch of girly-men.

Obviously written by one of the sissies in the press that hid in the lockers while men were taking showers in high school PE (hehe). Jealous that they could not ever become real men. They hate competition and making decisions. They hate the second admendment as they fear that they might have to defend their families, as they are cowards. They marry masculine woman who order them around.

The writer is obviously an effeminate sissy. I would pay him no mind.

blessings, Bobo

From that angle, with his feet off the ground, that "right hook" would have amounted to little more than a love tap. A real right hook delivered by a trained puncher is going to put your lights out.

The rules of Rugby are different than American football when it comes to tackling....In rugby, you tackle the ball, not the player. It is possible to play the ball from the ground if the ball has not been subdued.

W was just using good rugby ball tackling technique.

or maybe not....

Contrary to Kerry's infamous picture, 14 of the 16 guys in this picture approved of G.W.'s ativities in Cambodia over Easter '69. The team manager is in jail for repeatedly robbing the same pizza truck, and the guy sitting on the right is a sicko playing in sophisticated porn movies in Europe.

Although I personally like the contrived story that Bush was throwing a punch on this guy, it's obvious that he was grabbing with BOTH hands around this guys head, and the camera caught his LEFT hand as it was coming AWAY from that hold.

Actually that looks much more like a slipped tackle than a right hook to me. But what do I know, I only played rugby for years.

Punches aren't uncommon in rugby, but it rarely happened in the open like that. It was usually at the bottom of a collapsed scrum or ruck.

Aren't these the same people making fun of him for being a 'wimpy' cheer leader last election cycle?
