My Daddy had been dead 15 years before my Mama was diagnosed with Alzheimer's seven years ago. She refused to live with any of us, so the first four years we were able to keep her in her home because we had a lovely woman, Mary, who lived with her. She didn't need nursing care, just someone to watch her, make sure she remembered to eat, bathe and not wander off. We had to put her in a nursing home the last three years because she needed more medical care than Mary could provide. Fortunately, it was a very nice place and the staff liked her.
Three weeks ago she died peacefully, in her sleep, and we were so thankful for that.
I'll keep your Dad and your step-mother in my prayers
Not quite of the same cloth as shouting and sleeping in separate rooms --Teraysa!
We love you Laura!
((SuziQ)) May you be blessed with His presence during this most bittersweet time. <><
Truth be told, Louise should have been placed in a nursing facility a year or so ago. But Dad promised to take care of her..even though she no longer recognizes him, has difficulty remembering how to eat or use the bathroom and has rages (very unlike the sweet little lady she really is). It's tearing him up with stress...we're concerned for his own health. All his daughters live on the west coast..he's in Florida.
Thanks for the ping
Laura looks great, as usual. :)
Thank you for the ping!
Isn't it wonderful to have a First Lady who is a lady!
How refreshing after the eight years prior to this administration!
I guess that WaPo reporter thought she was writing a very friendly article, as she "only" inserted a few catty remarks. . The dislike of GW Bush by the press extends to anyone connected to him, even his wife. Wow!
I like that George and Laura Bush are real partners in their marriage. It's really a breath of fresh air to see a real marriage; not one where they are always cheating or using each other for each other's selfish agendas.
