THE BOONDOCKS (FOX) - Cartoon Network is reportedly finalizing a deal to pick up the failed FOX pilot presentation from Sony Pictures Television, based on the comic strip by Aaron McGruder of the same name. The animated series chronicles the clash of cultures that ensues when two youths from inner-city Chicago, Riley and Huey, move to the suburbs to live with their grandfather. McGruder and Reggie Hudlin are the executive producers of the project.

I'd better put the bug in my daughters' ears: do not let the kids watch that crap! Whatever happened to Mighty Mouse and Popeye, in addition to all the Warner Brother cartoons?
To: steplock
::Sigh:: a black guy drawing a japanese pop style in America. the blonde twit has always been in the strip. i just hope it either flops or turns into something so wrong, even us ATHF and SL2021 followers leave CTN for more South Park and Drew Carey.

Calling it a "cartoon" seems accurate. I remember when there were things called "comics" or "funnies" -- but boondocks wouldn't fit those categories.

Popeye has a lot of leftists views in it from what i recall.
and WB has made some new things like Teen Titans. even then, i recall Tiny Toons being a little pro-Nader once in a while.
To: martin_fierro
That poorly-drawn "comic" is even less funny than "Doonesbury." I disagree. The writer certainly has "issues", shall we say, but he does frequently take broad swipes against the reactionary attitudes taken by many on the left. I haven't found Doonesbury to be funny in years, but I occasionally get a chuckle out of The Boondocks.

On one hand, this guy drwas in a style I truly like and appreciate. He has "possibilities" as far as his art and potentially a great sense of humor. That said,I consider what he actually says to be wrong, onn more than one occasion untruthful, and more&more often racially stereotyping.
In short,I'd probably want to kick his @ss if he spoputed off to me in the same vein that he usually works his strip in.

I like Pinky and the Brain. They remind me of the demoncratic party. The smart ones want to rule the world and the dumb ones can't tie their shoelaces.
To: The Old Hoosier
Boondocks may be liberal kookery, but it's still one of my favorite comics. When McGruder stays outta politics, "Boondocks" can be funny and enjoyable, but like so many others, he seems to have lost his happy little mind over politics.

When our paper canceled this strip a few years ago, I sent in the following note:
An angry young artist named Aaron,
Whose worldview is bleak and despairin'
Had bid us Adieu
Now his venomous spew
Can pollute some boondocks we're not sharin'!

Boondocks? To be completely honest, I might actually check it out. Sure, I might cringe when it becomes too political (which is almost ALWAYS does now), but hey, I have to admit, I still read the comic nearly daily even with it's obvious Bush hating stance.
That being said, it is still, ATHF (I'm almost amazed that there are so many fans here of this show), Case Closed/Detective Conan (though a little too late for me, hey, at it's a decent Sherlock Holmes wannabe anime show), Gundam Seed, YuYu Hakasho, and Teen Titans (yes, I'm a fan of this wannabe anime American show too) for me on The Cartoon Network. South Park on occasion too.
