This is a "leak" only if this is an official NASA photo. If an individual took the photo, then they can release it just like the New York Times.

I think this is another example of Kerry's massive campaign bureaucracy at work. He has hundred's of advisors and didn't check with them to see what the photos really looked like and he gets embarrassed. This should happen frequently,it will be fun to watch.
