John Kerry signs an autograph after arriving in downtown Columbus, Ohio July 24, 2004.
On his wrist is a 'Live Strong' wristband which is being sold to raise funds and awareness for the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer reasearch.
He'd be wearin' diapers if babies could vote.
That watch doesn't go with that suit. Is it a Timex?
Mr. $3,000.00 Italian bicycle rider is now throwing in with the home team when the getting is good!
Gutless Weenie
So9
LOL Love your title, the (sigh) pretty much says it all.
He'll be back to his Rolex after the camapaign.
An above poster in #7 made a good point, Flipper didn't put it on the bracelet until it was ABSOUTELY CERTAIN that Lance would win on the next to last day.
That's because Effin was rooting for a Frenchman - any Frenchman - to win. Lance is his second choice. (Actually, he probably admires the way Lance dumped his wife and children and now dates a celebrity - sound familiar?)
Sheryl Crow probably gave it to him.
At the end of the piece, Peter Jennings stated something about why Senator Kerry admired Lance Armstrong's determination.
We both said, "What the heck was that?" A campaign plug for J F'ing !
Peter Jennings is almost a straight shill for the DNC, he's getting worse than Dan Rather in his old age!
Personally, I think Kerry still has problems with cancer and that's why he does all the insane 12 year old antics he has been recently. To make people think he is in such good shape he "couldn't" have ancer.
An by the way Kerry, Lance Armstrong's wife was beside him during the darkest days. She has 3 very young children by Armstrong. Recently "Lance the Hero" dumped her so he could eat Crowe. While he is not driving around Austin in his $100+ GERMAN car.
You mean the Liberal Bush-Hating Cheryl Crow's boyfriend?
Wow, John and I are wearing the same LAF Yelow Wristband!
Response: Politicians are like whores-all things to all men! If an act or omission gets a politician but one vote, while not costing him one vote, the pol will act or refrain from acting.
Lance Armstrong's wife was beside him during the darkest days.
Armstrong didn't even meet his wife until she was working for a sponsor of his Ride for the Roses (the Austin-based race to benefit his foundation). He was not married when he had cancer.
Recently "Lance the Hero" dumped her so he could eat Crowe.
By all accounts this was a mutual parting of the ways; Crow never entered the picture until after the divorce.
The implication is that John Kerry contributed to Lance's foundation. However, it must have been with his wife's money. During the six years between wives, Senator Kerry was a charity piker. In a few years he donated NOTHING to charity, and in most years he donated only a few hundred dollars. All this while earning over $100,000 per year.
Average Americans earn half or less what Kerry earned, but their average donations are many times his tightwad levels.
During those years he also became a pro at mooching off his rich friends- using their fancy homes, boats, etc., and getting them to pick up the tab for a "upper class" lifestyle. Guess he felt "entitled".
What a hypocrite!
OK, I think Kerry is evil incarnate and about the sleaziest person ever to hold office in this country (which is REALLY saying something after the toons), but I have to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. He is a cancer "survivor," having gone through prostate cancer surgery in February, 2003.
Yeah, the timing stinks and is surely a pose, but I have too much else to worry about this dipwad to care about this.
Gag Me Ping
That depends.
That brings to mind a couple of songs - Hard to Make a Stand and There Goes the Neighborhood
I wonder how much Mr. Moneybags actually donated to this charity in return for that bracelet?
He's probably just wearing this one to cover up the tan line he got from wearing his WWJD bracelet until it gets back from the cleaners.

The other day my wife was channel surfing and stopped on ABC's World News. They featured a recap of the day's Tour de France.
At the end of the piece, Peter Jennings stated something about why Senator Kerry admired Lance Armstrong's determination.
We both said, "What the heck was that?" A campaign plug for J F'ing !

Perhaps they are setting the table for a big surprise guest appearance and endorsement by Armstrong at the convention.

not to be pedantic, but Serottas are made in Wappingers falls NY.
Nice bikes, if a little overpriced for tig welded steel.
Men don't drop their wives then "suddenly" find some tart on their arm as if by magic. Odds are he had other fish to fry.
My view is that he didn't fight as hard as he rides to keep his marriage together for the sake of his children. Children who now sure won't be seeing daddy as much as they would be if he was still married to their mother.
He's an amazing person for what he has done riding a bike. His fight against cancer is admirable too. But guys that leave wives that have stuck by them and have small children by them are not aces in my book.
"... he probably admires the way Lance dumped his wife and children and now dates a celebrity,,"
Neither {man?] deserves admiration. They might, however, deserve each other. Want to bet Lance doesn't back him?
Look, the idiot pedals his little bicycle around France.
Why anybody with half a brain would give a s#$t about stupid, useless crap like that is completely beyond me. Just ignore the moron and do important things with your life.
So it's your view that his metaphorical "darkest days" where during his recovery and not during cancer. Fair enough.
I'll try to find the quote from his book and verify that. If you actually knew he was not married to Kik during his bout with cancer, then you can disregard that point.
Men don't drop their wives then "suddenly" find some tart on their arm as if by magic. Odds are he had other fish to fry.
Rumor has it Kik is dating as well. What does that make her? Believe it or not, divorced people *gasp* sometimes date other people.
My view is that he didn't fight as hard as he rides to keep his marriage together for the sake of his children. Children who now sure won't be seeing daddy as much as they would be if he was still married to their mother.
It cuts both ways. His wife knew what she was getting into and still married him. I'm not at all sure that the single-minded purposefulness of a professional cyclist allows for a successful marriage. In that respect they both deserve a certain amount of blame, I suppose.
But guys that leave wives that have stuck by them and have small children by them are not aces in my book.
Again, the accounts I've read state that the divorce was mutual. Not sure why you'd repeat this falsehood a second time.
Doesn't fool me. The old traitor needs his butt sent to North Vietnam to pick up his award.
Armstrong has done some serious, endorsement and advertising for Bristol-Myers Squibb. Good to know that Kerry is supportive of BIG pharmaceutical business and their advocates.
Good luck proving it's a "falsehood". That's not the word out of Austin. His wife has indicated about Armstrong's wondering eye in some of her comments.
I don't care that many put someone like Armstrong up on a pedestal. I'll just continue to be mystified by it. Especially when Armstrong hooks up with someone like Sheryl Crowe.
Kerry had prostate cancer last year. Kerry refuses to release medical records. A few on this forum believe health of presidential candidate (family has medical history of cancer and mental problems) is a non issue to election. I disagree (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1166245/posts?q=1&&page=51).
St. Louis Dispatch: Kerry won't release medical records http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1107224/posts
FoxNews, AP, DNC June 12, 2004 weekly radio address
"...In the past few years, I have seen cancer and stroke take my own parents. Last year, because of the remarkable medical advances we have made, I was cured of prostate cancer. Now everywhere I go in America, people come up to me and tell me about their struggle with illness or the bravery of family members who faces it. They share their worries, but they also believe that this is a country of the future, a can-do country..." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,122518,00.html

In fact, I'm sure I read of Lance and his wife having split up prior due to Lance running off with his mistress from San Francisco. Lance reconciled with the wife and yet it didn't work out and he's with Sheryl now. He has had a mistress problem.
You're about $4-5,000 too low. I've seen two stories lately in which it was valued at $7,000 and $8,000.00.
Well, I suppose we could both put our rumors up against each other, but in the end I doubt either would be persuaded. My only point is that this is a two-way street, and placing all the blame on Lance makes absolutely no sense.
Especially when Armstrong hooks up with someone like Sheryl Crowe.
Which, I suspect, is the real reason for much of the Lance-bashing on thos forum. Some folks evidently require ideological purity tests prior to dating anyone (not suggesting you in particular).
Armstrong has gotten to the point he can do whatever he wants. Which is what he is doing. I wish his three small children the best.
Can you direct me to the story you read? I haven't seen anything of the sort, so I'd be interested in reading it. Thanks...
Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong, appointed to the President's Cancer Panel by President George W. Bush in May 2002, is a
foursix-time winner of the Tour de France, world champion cyclist, two-time Olympian, cancer survivor, consumer advocate, and founder of the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF), an international nonprofit organization that provides leadership in helping people manage and survive cancer.Born in Plano, Texas, Armstrong won the Iron Kids Triathlon at 13 and became a professional triathlete when he was 16. By 1991, Armstrong was the U.S. National Amateur Champion. In 1993, he won the U.S. PRO Championship and became the youngest road racing World Champion in history.
By 1996, Armstrong was ranked as the number one cyclist in the world. However, in October of that year, he was literally forced off his bike in excruciating pain. Tests revealed that advanced testicular cancer had spread to his lungs and brain. Armstrong underwent surgery. Chances for his recovery were less than 50 percent as he began aggressive chemotherapy with an experimental therapy that gave him the chance for a full recovery with reduced danger of losing lung capacity. The therapy worked, and Armstrong began riding and training only 9 months after his diagnosis. He went on to win the Tour de France in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.
Armstrong described his experience with cancer as "a special wake-up call." He has responded to this call by becoming a spokesperson for testicular and other forms of cancer and creating the LAF, which awarded its first research grant in 1998. The LAF's mission is to promote the optimal physical, psychological, and social care and recovery of cancer survivors and their loved ones. Through survivor resources and support, it helps those diagnosed with cancer adopt an attitude of hope and positive action. Through partnerships with leading health institutions and organizations, the Foundation aids in the development of after-treatment services and support for survivors. Through a national advocacy initiative, it addresses health policy issues. Through scientific and clinical research grants, the LAF supports research for better understanding of cancer and cancer survivorship.
On the Lance Armstrong victory tour thread, the comment was made that bicycle racing is primarily a European sport. My response:
That must be why JFnK, the French candidate, is so attracted to bicycle riding.
obviously a camera pose, since the bracelet is meaningful at this moment in time...
when the fruit of the loom boys back kerry, look out for that photo...
teeman
What a parasite his whole campaign is going to be fraudulent.
My problem too is with the timing, he just puts in on the day of the victory..kind of like baseball fans who pick the team that won the World Series as their 'favorite team.'
Quotes:
Kristin Armstrong (February 2003): Marriage problems were "brought on gradually by a number of pressures, rather than one big blow-up. We've been together 4 1/2 years, and we've had six homes, three languages, three countries, one cancer comeback, three children, four Tour de France wins and one rise to celebrity. You're not supposed to cram such a huge amount of events into such a small period of time."
Lance Armstrong (September 2003): "The craziest thing is, we're closer now and better friends than ever before. We're truly committed to maintaining a good relationship, but not a marriage."
