They're not the ones who are dumb. We are dumb. The passengers did nothing. The attendants did nothing. The FAM did nothing and fell back on their PC excuse about not being able to do anything until after an incident. "Let's roll" has been replaced with PC.

Yes, let's beat up and possibly kill people based on appearances... or how they make someone else feel.

Terrorists need a cover, and music could be their cover. I wouldn't want to be on a plane with 14 Syrian men walking around when the seat belt light is on. The passengers were in fear, and who could blame them.

But they are also giving themselves away for free. They are not anonymous on the airplane, and will be monitored for a long time after the flight.

This is irrelevant, if the sandmaggots have enough bodies to use these just one time.

What I find fascinating is this possibilty, any administration's worst nightmare, short of another "911" or worse:

A group of muslims try their "cute" intimidation routine aboard another aircraft, relying on the "official" PC rules of pretending it's not happening, and it's not another form of terrorism.
The passengers beat them all into a pulp. Pig fodder. And they all collectively remember "nothing".
The gummint is then faced with a planeload of Americans who remember nothing, but need to be prosecuted for "murder". And the illegal killers who triggered the whole event can't "testify".

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

He said that they were fine musicians, put on a great show, and he would work with them again in the future.

Atta was a fine student who put on a great show too. That bozo is just trying to save his casino from any bad publicity same as the airlines are stumbling all over themselves claiming the sky is safe.

You brought up "appearances", not me.

Would you be kind enough to tell me where you do your "chemical" thing? So I can avoid that business like the plague?

If you had any sense at all, you might have understood that the reaction is not about how they look, but how they act. Intimidation and terrorism has many forms, and dismissing the psychological does not say much for your common sense.

"Flight crews and air marshals say Middle Eastern men are staking out airports, probing security measures and conducting test runs aboard airplanes for a terrorist attack."

And we are not arresting each of them and sending them to Gitmo because........? Oh, that's right. We must be PC.

"It's a probe. They are probing us," said a second air marshal, who confirmed that Middle Eastern men try to flush out marshals by rushing the cockpit and stopping suddenly."

And the marshalls stand by without arresting them? Why not allow everyone, who ants, to carry a gun on a flight? Are the pilots armed, and if not WHY?

A bullet to the head will stop this nonsense! Blow one away the next time they test us. Do they have a right to practice an attack? I don't think so.

Simply solution....Every muslim must show ID, and papers showing their travel intent before flight. The US checks every one.

Any questions? PC will kill if we allow it to!!

Excellent idea. Digital camera will be in my carry-on bag! I suggest everyone do the same. Hell, why not state this intent publically and suggest that everyone carry a camera?

I agree. As a passemger it would concern me also. Syrian band members, or white middle aged men in a polka band, I don't care. Northwest Airlines owes an explanation why they were alloud to walk around the plane when the seat belt light was on. IF they were not terrorist, then NWA contributed to the passengers fears. They could of calmed these fears earlier by asking them to take their seat. If they refused, then the Sky Marshall would of had a reason to get involved.

It seems odd that they would be this "dumb.......

They caught the 93 Trade Center bomber when he returned to the Ryder truck rental to get his deposit back, the deposit on the truck he blew up.

I've flown commercial lines a lot over the past couple years, and have yet to see more than one arab/muslim individual on a flight. Be sure, I look very, very carefully at every person sitting in 1st class when I board (of course, in coach...), as well as scan the line at boarding.

My sense of the posted piece on the "probing" which has been occurring is it is real. However, it also (likely) could be a diversion, using arab/muslim characters as the bait, with non-arab/muslim co-conspirators on the same flight as the real threat. The muslims will flush out the air marshal(s), who would then be taken down by the non-muslims, with a total crew of, say, 8-10 hijackers.

It is incumbent on us all to stay vigilant on our flights, and to act with courage in the event of an attempted hijacking, because it is better to go down fighting if you are going to die anyway. We cannot expect the US government to protect us 100%, especially because the US government policies in this area are dictated by political correctness. We are our own keepers.

Thank you for posting this.

The facts as they are presented do not explain away anything about the Syrians' behavior aboard the plane. All this tells us is that a casino confirms that they played there. Big deal. As others here have noted, terrorists adopt covers. As a matter of practicality, such covers need to be at least marginally verifiable. Hence, imho, this gig with this never-heard-of-it casino.

In fact, the casino's confirmation of the gig raises even more questions. By accounts, the casino is too small to have a house band--yet it has the funds to ferry 14 people in from overseas and back again for a one night performance? And not one of these 14 people mention to the casino manager a single word about the ordeal they went through with the FBI and FAM? Uh-huh. Right.

Even if one could accept the illogical notion that none of these men thought the event worth recounting even as an entertaining personal tale of adventure--they would certainly have recognized the once in a lifetime opportunity to get their name in every newspaper and TV show in the country. What band would pass that up?

"A Middle Eastern passenger attempted to videotape out the window as the plane taxied on takeoff and, when told by a flight attendant it was not permitted, "gave her a mean look and stopped taping," said a written report of the San Juan incident by a flight attendant."

So many of these stories you have to take with a grain of salt. I don't know, "videotaping not permitted on flights?" My Father-Inlaw has a video camera glued to his eye when he's on vacation. He tapes his take-off's, landings, a cute flight attendant, the clouds formations out the window. I myself have done this on my last trip to Hawaii, until my ribs were getting bruised by my wifes elbow hitting me. I just have a hard time buying that a flight attendant would tell him this.

I agree. No one should minimize what happened here. At the very least, it's outrageous that these 14 Syrian men were walking around with the seat belt light on, intimidating the passengers. (and probably the crew)

Are we stupid or what?

No doubt. If I were President after 9-11 all mideasterners would be sent back to their country of origin and all the mosques in this country would be torn down.

Eventually these fiends will find some weak-minded American converts who are willing to die for Allah and they will slip through undetected.

We should stop all this politically correct nonesense, deport all these Middle-Eastern Muslims and stop allwoing any more in here.

Can't we drop this politically correct insanity for just one minute to secure our national survival?
