Uh, Whoopie - Carter wasn't president 20 years ago. He left office in 1981. It was in all the papers.
What you need to do as a comic is make me laugh. You failed in your duty, Ms. Goldberg.
Oh and she DIDN'T have an Agenda?
Actually, the only thing that makes her comical is that she thinks she is an artist.
She really is, however, a "big loser", with a really yucky mouth.
I figured it would emerge..I heard it read and took it personally and with greatpride when she said "the other side"! That's us!
Using her "art" as license to degrade and act like an ass is despicable.
Thanks for the ping, Dansy !Meg, Arrow: Here is an article that contains Whoopi Cushion's statement:
Goldberg's Response
``While I can appreciate what the Slim-Fast people need to do in order to protect their business, I must also do what I need to do as an artist, as a writer and as an American, not to mention as a comic,'' Goldberg said in an e-mailed statement.
``I've done material on every president in the past 20 years, from Reagan to Carter, from Clinton to Bush,'' Goldberg said, adding that ``it seems now that people from the other side are using this to further their own agenda.''
Thanks. I see (now) that ya beat me to this thread. :^D
"I must also do what I need to do as an artist..."
If she's an artist, I'm the Pope.
Solicit the NEA for a grant?
Hey Whoopi, how many finger am I holding up?
I loved the article--loved it so much that I wrote the reporter. Here's what I said:
I read your story about Unilever pulling the Slim-Fast ads and Goldberg's response, and feel I would like to express a few words to you.
I did not write to Slim-Fast, but after I heard about the dinner, and Kerry's response, I made up my mind not to buy any Unilever products.
Ms. Goldberg says that people from the other side are furthering their own agenda.
I say that I as an American (whose youngest child is a Marine serving in Iraq), have a right to buy products from companies I like. I don't like their company if she's part of it.
I must do what I need to do as a wife, mother, and grandmother a consumer, and a citizen of the finest country on earth. If that means I'm from the "other side" and furthering my own agenda, she's right. So be it.
As long as she's not a part of Unilever, I'll support them wholeheartedly.
. . .and why not take advantage of the Democrat 'Johns' that were there as well?
Trash in - trash out; Slim-Fast president is a Democrat and so this one just came home to roost.
Okay for them to shut down Dr. Laura; try to shut down 'Rush'; initiate a 'smear camaign' against Fox News. . .petition an entire nation to not buy oil from whichever oil company the offending tanker came from. . .
Surely we can at least make a similar effort for pollution of the 'second kind'. . .

I am disgusted that you would allow a vile, profanity-loving commedienne such as Whoopi Goldberg as the hostess of a children's show. Because you insist on sending the wrong message to the nation's children, I will never support anything associated with Nickelodeon, its sponsors or affiliates.
