On the program I'm currently working on, we quoted 1 Korean, 1 Taiwanese, 1 Japanese, and several US suppliers. One of the US suppliers beat out everyone else, and got the business.
Well this is indeed good news. Perhaps they will outsource more work to the Stockton, Ca plant. Of course, the jobs will not be as high paying as Kerry and Edwards desire, but what the heck.
........'torchlight' parades again in Germany,......hmmmmmmmmm
no, not at all. but when you get to the point that NOTHING is produced anyplace except low wage countries - we've got a big problem. you can't base an entire economy on government employment, service jobs, and people who make money swapping real estate and financial securities back and forth. at least not an economy that has a large private sector middle class.
that plant will expand to make the new M Class (currently made there) in both a normal and long wheelbase chassis. and they will also make the new G wagon there. remember, the US has an import tariff on light trucks. the US is by far the largest market for their SUVs anyway.
Correct,.....
We'll just have to wait till the nuclear war is over......
?______ bombs?
?neutron bombs?
?outsourceing bombs
They're all the same.

I agree with you about having to have some kind of manufacturing. I would prefer that we specialize in producing pharmaceuticals and other products technology based products (and of course our natural resources and farming) and let others build sneakers... Government regulation of business will just make any problem twice as bad. Be careful what you wish for.

59 - "I once managed a plant where we beat the Koreans and then the Chinese on price producing valves using American castings."
Are they still in business? You know paying a living wage and making a profit is not good business, according to the free-traitors. You must outsource so you can make a tremendous profit.
Not many valve manufacturers left in the US. I know, I used to buy many of them.
Are you sure they are American castings? Many so called American ones were made in Korea and then imported as basic materials, then a final touchup grinding applied here, prior to assembly with parts parts from various countries.

OV - Some are just too dumb to figure that simple equation out.

"out sources bites in the rear end?"(lol parody translation......:} )
"Some 600 workers at a Mercedes plant in Düsseldorf kicked off the action with an overnight demonstration by torchlight through the city streets."

Wait until Iran and Syria get their regimes changed. The Germany economy like the French economy will tank. Both countries suffered an economic blow when the regime change came to Iraq.
Those billions and billions of blood money Euros ehen they are lost, will cause a lot of torchlight parades in Germany.
outsourcing German jobs to a continent where they take stuff away from 'rich' white guys? (not much of a threat)
outsourcing German jobs to Chrysler-USA? (thats starting to sound more like a possibility)
oooh, maybe they can outsource German jobs to france... THAT would sure boost productivity and reliability! /sarcasm>
In this case the operative word is were. And yes they were, I visited the foundry here in Texas. They had a nice operation and turned out a good product.
As to whether my old employer is in business or not, it appears so when I Google. My association with them was 15 years ago.
It's really a shame that parts of the auto industry in the US has to suffer the failing flailing of Euro-socialism.
BMW's Rosslyn SA factory has the highest quality rating of any BMW factory in the world.
Good to hear this. I need to get a car and refuse to buy anything made by the UAW. Our experiences with Toyota have been great, but I really think the Lexus is nice.
Just ask about 12 random Lexus owners how they feel about their Lexus, and if you have any friends who own a Lexus ask them.
I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
It is amazing how long many Lexus owners keep their Lexus. We know several couple who could afford to buy a new one every few years, and they keep their older Lexus.
Carton boy.............I saw that post and thought of you......................
