Clinton couple plan Aspen fund-raising stop [with TaRAYza howler]

It's an expensive week to be a Democratic booster in Aspen.

Two fund-raisers are planned here this week - one for U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and another for presidential hopeful John Kerry, according to multiple insiders who requested anonymity.

Bill and Hillary Clinton plan to attend a luncheon at a private residence on Red Mountain on Saturday, the sources said. The price of attendance is said to cost $1,000 per person, though some benefactors may elect to contribute the $2,000 maximum.

The fund-raiser, which will benefit Mrs. Clinton's run for a second term of senator of New York in 2006, will be held at the home of Michael Goldberg, the president of a Miami-based airline leasing company Aerolease International and the owner of Matsuhisa sushi restaurant on Main Street.

Goldberg, who is a personal friend of the Clintons, held a $1,000-a-plate fund-raiser for Kerry in June that drew the likes of Woody Creek writer Hunter S. Thompson, U.S. congressional candidate John Salazar and nearly 200 boosters and politicians.

The second fund-raiser for Kerry in four weeks, however, won't be held at Goldberg's home. It will be held at local resident Jessica Cato's home on Wednesday evening, according to a source. Teresa Heinz Kerry, Kerry's wife, will speak at the fund-raiser but John Kerry will not attend, the source said. The price of the get-together was not available.

Earlier Wednesday, Mrs. Kerry, who is the chair of Heinz Family Philanthropies, is also scheduled to speak at the Brainstorm conference, hosted by FORTUNE magazine and The Aspen Institute (see related story). Brainstorm event director Bob Bierman said that Mrs. Heinz is expected to speak about corporate responsibility and her family's philanthropic foundation.

Representatives from both Kerry's and Clinton's offices did not immediately return phone messages Monday.

The philanthropic organization headed up by that paragon of virtue and ethics stalwart Ken Lay? The very Ken Lay John Edwards thought should have been behind bars while heading up Terayzahs little rich click?

Why does anyone in Aspen give $1,000 to elect a Senator in New York?

Why does anyone in Aspen give $1,000 to elect a Senator in New York?

For the same reason we'd donate $2000 to defeat them!

Really illustrates how far off the track our republic is. When a non-citizen of a state feels compelled to support or detract from a Senate candidacy in a state half way across the country.

Why is Hitlery having a fund raiser in Colorado? Isn't she, say, a Senator from New York?

The Xlintons follow the Willie Sutton philosophy...go where the money is.

Aspen is a destination playground for the world's uber-rich. Naturally, as a *national* figure with designs on the White House, ThatWoman (D-NY) traipses the nation, palm out, seeking offerings from folks who want to be short listed for state dinners, should she seize power.

Why would anybody in Colorado give a flip about who the next senator from New York is ?
There really should be something done about this kind of stuff.
If nothing else you would think the voters of New York would feel a bit outraged at their senator kissing butt for bucks half way across the country.

At least in the wintertime she could argue that many of her monied constituents were there. But, right now they're all air-kissing each other in The Hamptons.

That must explain the rotting fish smell at the fudraiser.

President Clinton's first vacation was his Colorado golfing trip with Ken Lay in 1993, as seen above.

Hmmmm?

What are two Arkanschemers planning???

Perhaps if Kerry gets elected, he has an "accident" and Edwards appoints Hitlery Vice-President.

Then, of course, Edwards has another "accident" and Evita gets into the White House along with Bubba.
