Fire was approaching 138.

Air attack call just went out to get all available helicopters in the air to division x-ray, and have them contact copter 12 at "one twenty-two, eight five zero"

Why do I keep hearing "dirty water calls?" Is that a consequence of water drops, stirring up reservoirs or something? Residences keep calling in. Now they're talking about flushing through manholes.

Line of Duty Death

Fire Captain Daniel Elkins

It is with deep regret that the Los Angeles County Fire Department must affirm the line-of-duty death of Fire Captain Daniel Elkins, of Fire Station 117 in Lancaser, Ca. Captain Elkins, who was 47 years old, was en-route to the Antelope Valley from the Pine Incident brushfire in the Lake Hughes area when he was involved in a single-vehicle accident. He was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Captain Elkins, who lived in the Quartz Hill area of Los Angeles County, was a 20-year veteran of LACoFd, appointed to the Department in October, 1983. He is survived by his wife and two adult children.

firefighter runs past a line of burning brush and trees while helping fight the Pine Brush Fire in the Lake Hughes, Calif., area of Angeles National Forest Monday, July 12, 2004. The blaze prompted the voluntary evacuation of a dozen homes. The fire started about 12:30 p.m. Monday and quickly spread in the heavy brush, fanned by winds that gusted around 20 mph, said Inspector John Mancha of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was 20 percent contained Monday night and there was noestimateon full containment. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire was under investigation
