This is the flag under which Canadian troops fought and died in WWI, WWII, and Korea.

It flew over the country the Liberals killed.

IIUC, the east and west are much more conservative. Can't they, like crush the Liberal middle?

True, that. Sad to say, but I think Meech Lake was the last nail in the coffin...

LOL! The Liberal 'middle' constitutes 60% of the country, and the East are dependent on gratuities from that middle.

...with them pouring across the border en masse,...

Well, the real problem is that all their corrupt politicians seem to be migrating to AZ.

And then there's encouragement of terrorists to migrate there and take out citizenship.

I forgot about the coins. Big problem, since I reside in a border state.

I kind of like back bacon. I've never been in the food business, so I can't say if it's a more productive use of
a pig.

And speaking of pigs, they have a serial killing pig farmer that fed victims' bodies to his porcine herd. Most likely
well out of the food chain by now. I think I heard that PETA had a billboard in Vancouver doing some sort of comparison
about 2 years ago.

Needless to say, the victims' families were not happy Canadians.

"...is Steyn too hard on his motherland?"

Mark tells it exactly like it is. He keeps me sane. When I read him I feel like I'm hearing a voice out of my own head telling me stuff I always knew but hadn't spelled out.

One of the reasons for the change of flag was to give Canada a distinctive national identity. It hasn't worked out that way and in Quebec the Maple Leaf flag is hardly flown. A country secure in its identity should be secure enough to keep its flag. All of which goes to the point Canada is still very much a country in search of nationhood. It does have a government but nothing in the way of a true national identity.

The Liberals have a lock on vote-rich Ontario. Try to picture a country in which one region is home to 25% of its population and then try to picture most of them living in a narrow strip of land hugging Lake Ontario all the way down to the New York border. When you have a province that makes up half of what's needed to secure a majority in the House Of Commons, its makes Western Canada practically irrelevant to the calculations of political campaigning. That's why the Liberals don't have to bother attracting votes out West since all they need to do next time is work to get Quebec back inside the party to win a parliamentary majority.

Anyone know anything about the Red Ensign?

He's the guy who dies every time Kirk and Spock leave the Enterprise.
