Bookmarked to this thread which has gathered all the links we can find that tie AQ/Iraq:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1127451/posts?page=1
This is a major news story, IMHO. We actually saw it several weeks ago or so when someone on the Iraq interim government called a press conference. However, there was not a peep from Bush administration about it. Perhaps they have been investigating and making sure it is well-sourced.
Good for posting that. I think there's a lot of evidence - of course, what it has to be to make it to the evidentiary standards of the 9/11 "commission" (aka, lynch mob) is another thing altogether.
Chess not checkers.
Let your enemy fail and fail .....while you hold back the good intel......then BAM!!!!!!!
Next thing we know they will pull Bin Laden out of a turban.
GWB has been calm and self-confident in recent weeks, when a lot of people in this forum have been panicky (I've felt that coming on myself sometimes).
Way back in February (I think) when he gave that MTP interview that many people were upset about, GWB stated clearly that he was happy to be able to run in light of his decision to go to war in Iraq. He stated it confidently then, and he seems confident even now.
^
Dog, my theory is that the Bush Administration feels real confident about this. If it checks out, it is a major revelation.
Cap....I noticed a change in GWB about two to three weeks ago...others here on the forum noticed the change. Like he knew something we didn't..
Wow - DOG!!!!
I had not picked that out from the article. Distracted here waiting for a phone call.
Good find.
Boy - do I agree with that statement.
Ping for a most interesting find.
Tell me when the report was written..
The interim report they read last week? I don't know.
That is the one..
A strategy play, brilliant on the part of the Bush administration. The media has been insisting for so long now, that the only reason we went to war against Iraq was the WMD; they ignore the other reasons (like this al q link and other things). So, this comes to the front pages, the left rages on about it, taking the bait like the stupid dogs they are. And now we have TWO reasons for going to war against Iraq in most people's minds. WMD and the Saddam / Al Q link. I think most people are convinced there was a connection, the media looks like dishonest partisans now for pulling contrary statements out of context. And now this new bit of information. I just have to laugh. This is the kind of thing that changes people's perceptions and I think it's great strategy. Now if we can just get the media to tell the truth about WMDs and stop ignoring the human atrocities committed under Saddam.
Memorial Day weekend. Look at the photos of GWB and Rumsfeld on Memorial Day. Anybody who thought or thinks there is any tension between the two would have a hard time explaining the obvious lack of tension between the two. I think it also has something to do with what they know that we don't --- yet.
Also notice that twice in the last week GWB has spoken directly to the military. He knows that there are elements in our country pouring venom into the water our guys and gals drink and spewing filth into the air they breath. The reality in the field is extremely tough, but so different from the lies being spread. He is telling them he knows the truth. I believe the truth is going to come out in great force in coming months.
I remember that now.....I think you pointed them out then..
The report was released last week, Wed. or Thursday I think.
When they actually wrote it, I don't know.
Ahhh, yes. The first WTC. His fingerprints were ALL over that deal and Clinton brushed it off as rather uneventful and never even visited the site. Oh, don't even get me started on that :-)
"Some of these documents indicate that (there was) at least one officer of Saddams Fedayeen, a lieutenant colonel, who was a very prominent member of al Qaeda," Lehman said. "That still has to be confirmed, but the vice president (Dick Cheney) was right when he said that he may have things that we dont yet have," said Lehman, a former Navy secretary. "And we are now in the process of getting this latest intelligence."
Good find, Dog.
I think sKerry is going to regret, along with the mainstream media, the rush to say, once again, that "Bush lied."
It is my fondest wish that not only new documents get turned over to the Commission which exposes them for the frauds they are, but that documents which show Saddam's fingerprints all over material support to AQ is exposed as well. And quite possibly links to 9/11.
I think you might be right. They must be real confident about this or they would never have mentioned it.
thanks for link
You're a peach, Peach!
I'm hoping we hear information eventually that Saddam provided material support/money to AQ. He certainly knew 9/11 was coming and I doubt those men were just gossiping over the backyard fence!
I'd like to blame Clinton -- and I do, usually -- but I think a lot of Americans have been guilty of ignoring the facts of this war for a very long time. I know I didn't see the truth until I started paying attention, and that wasn't until after they slaughtered 3,000 Americans.
I guess I'm making up for lost time, here.

Wondering if the Iraqis are getting Saddam to talk? Or maybe some other terrorists have given up some valuable info?
I was in the same boat as you were.
When 9/11 happened, I was alone because my husband was poll managing. I thought, for the first hour, that it was China attacking us :-(
Since that time, I've been making up for my lack of knowledge and reading every book I can get my hands on regarding Muslim terrorism, AQ and Iraq.
A much better read and a better researched book than I expected it to be was Jayna Davis's book The Third Terrorist.
There is no doubt in my mind Iraq was behind the OKC attack.
Over 40 people placed Timothy McVeigh with a man who is named in the book and who is an ex-Iraq Republican Guard.
The guy was working at Logan International Airport on 9/11 as a food handler! He told four psychiatrists that if something happened at that airport, he would be blamed.
A woman who lost her leg in the OKC building and was worked on for 12 hours as doctors amputed her leg at the scene to free her from the rubble, told doctors and LE officials that she saw a middle eastern man get out of the Ryder Truck. She described him to a tee, including his distinctive tattoo.
The book should be required reading for all Americans. The only downside to reading it is that you will come away disappointed in our government and the lackluster investigation. And not just Clinton's Justice Department, although they certainly dropped the ball. But since that initial investigation, subsequent (albeit small) investigations have been undertaken by Congress and they have brushed their findings under the rug because "there are too many bodies buried in that investigation". Meaning - too many people who are still holding positions of power are still in power.
A national disgrace. Read it. You'll never forget it.
Gosh!! If this IS true, and the White House releases the info before this comming Friday.....
Do ya think Michael Moore will be "deeply saddened" ??
If I were Saddam I'd be singing like a canary right now with a deal on the table that he'll talk if we can persuade the Iraqi Interim Goverment to keep from letting him swing in the town square.
This was posted weeks ago.

I don't care when the information is released as long as it's well before the election.
Today, I saw Michael Moore for the very first time. He reminded me of Jabba the Hut.
Thought you'd be interested in this article.
Somehow I feel we are at a tipping point with regard to the press, Kerry, Iraq and educating the American public about the ties that Saddam had to Al Qaeda.
I concur, his demeanor reminds me of quarterback Joe Montana at the two minute warning. I'll stick with a proven winner.

heh, heh... I thought it was North Korea, working with the Chinese.
"The Third Terrorist" is definitely on my reading list. I'm working on "The Connection" now.
I am going to order that book; glad you reminded me.
You won't be sorry you spent time reading The Third Terrorist; it's unputdownable (after the first chapter which is rather slow but for a purpose).
No. He'll eat more, poor blanched and fattened soul. He will be Deeply Fattened.
BUY "Connections" by Stephen Hayes, it's excellent. Don't bother to look for it at Borders.
Move along nothing to see.
You don't suppose the stupid frat boy Bush has just outsmarted them once again, do you? You don't think he was playing a little Texas Holdem with the RATS, do you?
The Dims just don't know how to play Texas Hold 'em against President Bush.
good stuff bump
ping.
