Sorry if this is a duplicate. I first saw this story a few weeks ago. Guess it has taken the White House a few weeks to be sure it was a valid report. At least i hope they are sure it is valid.

This is a major news story, IMHO. We actually saw it several weeks ago or so when someone on the Iraq interim government called a press conference. However, there was not a peep from Bush administration about it. Perhaps they have been investigating and making sure it is well-sourced.

Good for posting that. I think there's a lot of evidence - of course, what it has to be to make it to the evidentiary standards of the 9/11 "commission" (aka, lynch mob) is another thing altogether.

Lehman said the information, contained in "captured documents," was obtained after the commission report was written that stated there was no evidence of a "collaborative relationship" between Iraq and al Qaeda.

Chess not checkers.

Let your enemy fail and fail .....while you hold back the good intel......then BAM!!!!!!!

GWB has been calm and self-confident in recent weeks, when a lot of people in this forum have been panicky (I've felt that coming on myself sometimes).

Way back in February (I think) when he gave that MTP interview that many people were upset about, GWB stated clearly that he was happy to be able to run in light of his decision to go to war in Iraq. He stated it confidently then, and he seems confident even now.

Dog, my theory is that the Bush Administration feels real confident about this. If it checks out, it is a major revelation.

A strategy play, brilliant on the part of the Bush administration. The media has been insisting for so long now, that the only reason we went to war against Iraq was the WMD; they ignore the other reasons (like this al q link and other things). So, this comes to the front pages, the left rages on about it, taking the bait like the stupid dogs they are. And now we have TWO reasons for going to war against Iraq in most people's minds. WMD and the Saddam / Al Q link. I think most people are convinced there was a connection, the media looks like dishonest partisans now for pulling contrary statements out of context. And now this new bit of information. I just have to laugh. This is the kind of thing that changes people's perceptions and I think it's great strategy. Now if we can just get the media to tell the truth about WMDs and stop ignoring the human atrocities committed under Saddam.

Memorial Day weekend. Look at the photos of GWB and Rumsfeld on Memorial Day. Anybody who thought or thinks there is any tension between the two would have a hard time explaining the obvious lack of tension between the two. I think it also has something to do with what they know that we don't --- yet.

Also notice that twice in the last week GWB has spoken directly to the military. He knows that there are elements in our country pouring venom into the water our guys and gals drink and spewing filth into the air they breath. The reality in the field is extremely tough, but so different from the lies being spread. He is telling them he knows the truth. I believe the truth is going to come out in great force in coming months.
