Atkins was originally specified by someone else,I was responding. The only difference I see between Atkins and the other list diets is that Atkins was well enough thought out that it probably won't kill you, unless you stay in the induction phase too long, which does happen. Atkins tries to balance American psychological tendancies with long term health by only having the rapid weight loss for a short period of time then settling into a healthy rate. But it still starts off with that unhealthy nod to instant gratification.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA Self contradict much. What's the difference between ignoring these attributes and not considering them in the formula? A warning label?! Sorry pal, you just admitted that I'm right, it IGNORES the majority of the attributes that determine if a person is overweight, just because they admit it doesn't excuse it.

Must be all that extra ozone after they changed that index, too.

Where? Certainly nothing that Atkins has put out.

That wasn't bawling, that was falling on the floor laughing at your silliness. You said they didn't ignore stuff, then said they admitted to ignoring it. That's funny.

It's called the induction phase, it starts off the person with a fair chunk of rapid weight loss right at the beginning of the diet, aka: instant gratification.

Of course you don't print the rest of the story. The 'moderate, sustained weight loss' part. Please.

Because that has nothing to do with the discussion. We're only talking about 2 weeks of dieting here, the instant gratification part which Atkins does have. What happens AFTER instant gratification is immaterial to a discussion about instant gratification.

Ignore: To refrain from noticing or recognizing,

They noted and recognized. You are being childish.

Please prove with FACTS that they are putting one on a rapid weight loss right at the beginning for instant gratification. You can post some calorie limits or something to back up your claim? I think not.

Ignore: to not use the data.

In the BMI chart they IGNORE gender, race, body fat %, age and a host of other things. Just because they admit to ignoring them in the instructions on how to use it doesn't mean they aren't ignored.

The only one being childish here is the guy playing Clintonian word games. That data which is not used to make a chart is IGNORED, that will ALWAYS be the truth no matter how desperately you LIE to make it otherwise.

Smoking is not on the Atkins diet either but it happens.

I used a dictionary. You are the one that made up your definition. Who's playing word games?

Being that Dr Atkins is dead there's no way to prove why there is an instant gratification part to his diet. But the FACTS remain that there IS an instant gratification part to his diet. the rest of your question is red herring obfuscation BS. The induction phase IS instant gratification, period end of sentence, whether or not that was the goal is immaterial, it's there and it certainly plays into the popularity of the diet.

Obviously you do not understand what the BMI represents. Please do your homework.

In fact, it specifically states that these factors are NOT considered

According to the dictionary and to your post they IGNORE these attribute.

Word games are all yours, as always.

I know exactly what the BMI represents: junk science by a group paid by the government with my tax dollars to prove there was a problem that needed government intervention.

Do your own homework.

So you know it all. You said various factor are not accounted for. Well here is an excerpt from the CDC on BMI. Read it and do your research.

BMI for Children and Teens
(Also referred to as BMI-for-age)
BMI is Used Differently with Children Than it is With Adults
In children and teens, body mass index is used to assess underweight, overweight, and risk for overweight. Children's body fatness changes over the years as they grow. Also, girls and boys differ in their body fatness as they mature. This is why BMI for children, also referred to as BMI-for-age, is gender and age specific.1, 2 BMI-for-age is plotted on gender specific growth charts. These charts are used for children and teens 2 – 20 years of age. For the 2000 CDC Growth Charts and Additional Information visit CDC's National Center for Health Statistics.

Each of the CDC BMI-for-age gender specific charts contains a series of curved lines indicating specific percentiles. Healthcare professionals use the following established percentile cutoff points to identify underweight and overweight in children.

Underweight BMI-for-age < 5th percentile

At risk of overweight BMI-for-age 85th percentile
to < 95th percentile

Overweight BMI-for-age > 95th percentile
BMI decreases during the preschool years, then increases into adulthood. The percentile curves show this pattern of growth. What does it mean if my child is in the 60th percentile?
The 60th percentile means that compared to children of the same gender and age, 60% have a lower BMI.
