They've done studies that have concluded that Rushmore couldn't handle any additions.
That said I wouldn't have a problem replacing Lincoln the federalist or Roosevelt the land grabber with Ronald Wilson Reagan.

I'm not personally opposed to seeing Reagan carved there.
But much better than honoring a man with baubles and monuments is to finally understand him through his words and ideas and put them into practice.
Government is the problem. The Republicans of today are again forgetting that. The Gipper would love it if we reminded them, IMO.
To: Jeff Head
They should do new studies...or replace FDR. Your wish is granted. FDR won't be on Mount Rushmore by the end of the day.

We are reminding them...the outpouring of this week is proof positive, not only to the demos, but to the RINOs, that the people are much more moved, touched and inclined to remember and support the true conservative and foundational policies and principles that make this nation great.
So, your point is well taken...but I still want to see him on the $20 and on Rushmore.

Super idea! I'd support it if it gains any credibility.
Let's see now; we just named a nuclear sub after Carter (what a freekin' joke THAT is)...
How about we shape little urinal cakes in Clintoon's image. Then we (at least us guys) could pi#* all over him every day!
Also, let's make the little cakes blue - Clintoon's favorite colour!

I'd rather see more studies...I believe we have the technology today to carve out another one on that mountain.
Either way...it is well deserved and would enshrine what he stood for and accomplished for centuries...millinia.

Neat idea, but I don't think there's sufficient rock there.
The ideal memorial to RWR is to remake America as he saw it. . . .oh, and to burn a certain Senator from New York at the stake, to light that shining beacon on a hill (evil grin)

Since the monument cannot be modified without possibly destroying it, I suggest a new monument elsewhere. New Hampshire has lost "The Old Man of the Mountain" natural formation, so I suggest replacing it with a Reagan Monument like Rushmore, with room for ADDING FUTURE PRESIDENTS (W) and others..................

That knob looks pretty deeply split. Putting Reagan on the other side seems more feasible.

Either side looks like it would take significant excavation to get back to where the face could be carved.
On the left, he could be face more to the south. on the right, more to the north perhaps.
Some have already indicated that studies indicate that the cracks aare too deep without sufficient solid rock....but it does seem they could tie into the side of one of the existing scupltures and have Reagan facing at an angle.
Thanks for that pic.

The world's largest mountain sculpture in progress, Crazy Horse Memorial depicts the Lakota leader astride a horse. When completed, the mountain carving will stand 563 feet high and 641 feet long and will be carved in the round. Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski began the project in 1948 at the request of Lakota elders who wanted the white man to know the red man has great heroes, too. All FOUR faces on Mount Rushmore would fit inside just Crazy Horses head. The face of Crazy Horse was completed on June 3, 1998, marking 40 years of progress on the sculpture.

I think Mt. Rushmore is completed.
If you want, suggest a new monument.
To: Age of Reason
Perhaps...but I can also suggest adding to Mt. Rushmore. If that is impossible, then a new monument would be in order. But I like the idea of adding it to Rushmore if possible.
But that's just my own opinion.

Lincoln the federalist? Ok, that was uncalled for, Lincoln was perhaps the greatest president other than Washington or Reagan this country ever had. We shouldn't be tearing down one Republican icon to replace him with another.

No, they wouldn't, Josh. They'd get their Hollyweird friends to start fund raising; they'd start forming Congressional committies to decide who should be on it, and they'd demand that Clintooon be on it even if he's still alive. THEY HAVE THAT MUCH GALL.

There was some guy on Fox and Friends this morning from the Reagan Legacy (Foundation?) and they talked about this and also having Reagan on the $10 bill.
Maybe we should start a petition on-line to help them out?

I think that it is polarized as far as those who regularly get out to vote to some extent...but when you consider how Reagan captured the vote...in landslides...then that may not be so...particularly for an issue that deals directly with him.
Either wat...it still needs to be done.

I believe there is alreay one going on the $10 bill...I signed something on Sunday or Monday to that effect...and there is legislation supporting it already to.
The Rushmore thing probably doesn't have either at this point...at least not that I have seen.

Clearly he would fit...I guess the issue is what shape (in terms of faults and cracks) that part of the mountain is in.
I'd like to see them do another study because there seems to be a fairly serious crack/fault between Teddy Roosevelt and Lincoln and its holding up.
BTW...GREAT graphic! (as usual)
