It would be more accurate to say we are philosophically small government conservatives but operationally we are big government liberals. In short, we love big government as long as we don't have to pay too much for it.
Listen to me: there are two choices this year, George W. Bush and John F. Kerry.
If you can't tell the difference -- or worse yet, want to TALK IT TO DEATH -- then don't vote.
You obviously know absolutely NOTHING about the actual record of Ronald Reagan.
Could have fooled me. You seem giddy with these numbers, ignoring other polls which were released over this same time period, and ignoring W.'s advance in the all important job approval numbers. Then again, I could be misreading you. Happens ;)
That is the reality and Reagan embraced it.
ambrose, you know how bad I am with numbers and the economy, but it seems like with low interest rates, the stock market, increase in jobs, home sales, etc., isn't Bush DOING something on the home front??????
I'm just pointing out the worst case scenario could be a blessing in disguise. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see President Bush win a second term. But in the meantime he has to convince the American people what he will do over the next four years on the home front that he didn't do in the previous four. Its all a matter of having the right goals. The President needs to lay them out and the conservative base as well as the country will then follow him.
I have a hard time believing that 50% of voters will actually vote for Kerry. There is a difference between people telling someone over the phone whom they like and actually casting a ballot.
After Kerry got the nomination sewn up, he received on average about 70% of the vote in the remaining Democrat primaries and caucuses. That means that about 30% of the Democrats who voted could not bring themselves to vote for Kerry even though essentially nobody else was running.
Assuming about 45% of all voters are Democrats and they follow that same trend, then only 31.5% of all the votes Kerry would get would be among Democrats. If you add the few percentage points he's likely to get each among Independents and Republicans, he'll be lucky to break 40%.
Any poll that shows Nader with 7% of the vote is meaningless. It sounds to me like people aren't taking these Gallup polls very seriously yet. A big percentage of the voters haven't given the election serious thought yet, so when Gallup calls them on the phone they give an answer that will not necessarily hold up on election day. There's no way Nader will get even 4% of the popular vote. Remember that Bush 41 was way behind Dukakis (17 points) after the Dem convention in July and he went on to crush Dukakis.
Well said!
My friend, why aren't we HEARING about his domestic agenda?
Then he proceeded to govern like a moderate domestically. After the first 3 years he NEVER enacted one major domestic policy other than to raise taxes and resume government growth and an illegal alien amnesty. His last 5 years were focused solely on the cold war and he won his second term based on progress being made on that front. I can't believe the lack of knowledge of the president we all agree was the greatest of our lifetimes.
He needs to tell the Sheeple about this. He was great in the Dateline interview on Sunday. He needs to get out do more of those, but start talking about the economy. Most people have the attention span of a gnat, so they need to constantly be reminded. Bush sometimes gives off the attitude "I explained this to you last year."
Let me tell you this and I'm only going to say it once:
The very idea that you would even CONSIDER putting the control of the security of this country in the hands of a liar -- THE man who turned this entire country against an entire generation of men who fought for this country -- to teach the GOP a lesson makes me want to PUKE.
Blessing in disguise? What a bunch of CRAP......you don't give a damn about this country -- all you care about is the "olden days" that weren't so swell after all.
And you'll never convince me you want Bush back in office -- EVER.
We know Reagan's actual record was far from perfect. But oh boy people loved that talk about cutting government and making America stronger. He made them feel better about themselves too. Its obvious President Reagan's popularity has little to with what was happening with various policy intiatives insude the Administration.
Listen to me: I agree with you, I'm voting for Bush, and I've supported him since 1999.
I think Bush will win regardless, but I think he could clean house if he acted more conservative domestically.
Because you aren't paying atttention; you're spending time contemplating why Bush isn't doing enough for YOU and you one line agenda.
It's all there if you want to know, but I suspect you don't see anything that doesn't bolster your own tunnel vision view of the world.
YES!!
"Kerry always drops as people see more of him."
Even with the MSM's help, Kerry can't hide forever. Your theory is sound and will in good time be proven again and again and again and...
Aren't you a big Arnold supporter? If so why? Hell McClintock was the real conservative in that race.
