Maybe I should go help out.

My thoughts exactly.

Is there a Register people can sign? I'm would be more than happy to do my part and help resolve Japan's problem.

you two sharing a brain cell or something?

Actually, I feel a little sorry for anyone who didn't have this reaction when they saw that statistic.

And then there is something about great minds....

Probably the hardware store. Or maybe Home Depot.

You did mean "putty," didn't you?

What was the problem? I excerpted it already. I posted only a few paragraphs from the beginning of a huge article, well below 10% of the total. Why did you remove the excerpt text?

Many young Japanese women live carefree lives, staying at home with their parents, paying little if any rent, letting their mothers cook their meals, clean their rooms and do their laundry. Many work dead-end jobs that don't pay much but don't cause much stress and give them enough spending money to buy designer handbags, shoes, clothes and jewelry and enough time to take overseas holidays with their girlfriends.

There is the problem right there.

There were some news articles back five years ago or thereabouts saying that many Japanese women had what they called "lizard husbands." These were men who got up very early to go to work, went to the karaoke bar with their boss after work in the spirit of Japanese teamwork, and got home late at night. So the woman would wake up in bed to find her husband gone, and would go to sleep at night before he returned.

Evidently the same on weekends, when these husbands would rise early to play golf with the boss.

I always rather liked that descriptive phrase for the man who is never in bed while his wife is awake: lizard husband.

I had to LOL when I read this part below, because I know American men who sound just like this Japanese man when he proposed here:

The author of Kekkon Shimasen (I Won't Get Married!), Haruka abandoned her own plans for marriage a decade ago when she realized her fiancé wanted her to give up her career and lead the traditional life of a Japanese housewife. She says Japanese men sometimes propose to women with lines like: ''I want you to cook miso soup for me the rest of my life.'' Not surprisingly, Japan's increasingly educated and well-traveled young women are not impressed.

PS Maybe some men need to learn how to romance a woman. Woman who have been working all their lives in jobs don't want to get married when marriage seems to offer nothing more but the demands of yet another job.

Boy when we castrate a nation do we do a job or what? Both the Japanese and the Germans have gone from being swaggering conquerors to pu**ies.

Hear the one about the newlywed couple that confused their putty and their Vasaline?

First hot day...

...all their windows fell out.

Yes, real women are tiring and potentially humiliating. Better to watch cartoon porn and "turn Japanese."

Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese

I really think so!

Turning Japanese I think I'm turning Japanese

I really think so!

The funny thing about that song is most people do not know what they were talking about .....what 'turning Japanese' truly meant and stood for.

LOL!

Too expensive to raise children.

A liter of milk is over $3.50US. A good elementary/high school costs close to the same per year as an ivy league college.

"Housing is outrageously expensive and no one gets very much of it.

High taxes, government control, business control (their free market is not our idea of free market) -- too many penalties for growth and investment; too many expenses for families."

That about sums it up ...What the hell am I DOING here ???

I read a book about 15 years ago, "The Pink Samurai," that included a lot of this theme of Japanese men being rather clueless about how to deal with women.

You bet! I met lots of Japanese businessmen when I lived in La-La Land. They ALL wanted to hop in the sack with "blonde" American women. I put "blonde" in quotes because most such "blondes" had dyed or bleached hair. And it didn't matter how horribly ugly they looked as long as they had blonde hair. A typical Japanese man would rather hop into the sack with a Courtney Love than an Ava Gardner. Incredible but TRUE. This is why so many hookers in L.A. have fake blonde hair.

That would never happen here. Most American guys would ask women to heat up their chili for the rest of their lives.
