Hunter had a little run in with real 'authority' once. The Angels damn near killed him.

I don't read it any more but I used to and one of the main characters in the past was Uncle Duke, this character is known to have been based on Hunter S. Thompson. In fact, Thompson is said to have protested to the creator of the strip that he had some detail wrong.
