I avoid hot topics with my wife until they are forced on us through the news, internet, or water cooler chat.

There are many things I'd like to see the GOP spend more time with but right now I understand that it is the protection of America's people and interests that has top priority.

My wife and I are both knee deep in that effort working here in the Middle East and she (even as a Dem) loves the USA.

Frankly, I don't know how Mary Matalin and Serpenthead have lasted this long.

Water seeks its own level (pains me to say it in her case - used to think better of her . . )

So, if a republican WANTS to date someone with lots of tatoos and facial hardware, they have to go to the democrat site now?

"You've just described 95% of the single women in the Twin Cities MN area."

Seems I must fall into the other 5%. :)

The want a guy over 6'4", athletic build, no kids, and makes over $100K, age 28 -39. BUT They are 5'1", 'average' build (or "a few extra pounds"), no income or education listed, have kids at home, and are 35-45 years old. OR They are 39, never been married but figure 'its time' and are holding out for the 'perfect guy'.

LOL! That sums it about right.

“A significant number of people know they want to find a Democrat or a Republican.”

Why? Where’s the adventure in that? How can a person reeducate a democrat if democrats are avoided?

I find this couple in my dictionary under dysfunctional.

Women are sexual mercenaries

Does it disgust you that the sun comes up in he morning? The fact that women, as you say, are sexual mercenaries should not be personalized. Rather, look at the facts: women have, at most, 10 years (16-26) where they control the board. After that, even if they are attractive, there's another crop coming along right behind them with the same objectives, but with X-times the sexual power.

As you get a little older, you sort of begin to feel sorry for them. Guys have a 30+ run (21-51+), but women are like desert flowers - they literally bloom and decay. You can't believe what the hormones (or lack thereof) do to them as they age.

You have some expertise on this subject. Care to share?

More accurately, I tried to have some expertise on this subject.

Rejected by eHarmony. *sigh*

That's something of a misrepresented quote. I said "some" or "most" not "women are sexual mercenaries."

I was making it clear that there are many(or even most) exceptions that aren't. Those are the ones I'd want, even if I had a billion dollars.

And yes, the sun disgusts me ;)

Ok, I'll take responsibility for it. Women have one thing going for them - they know it, we know it, we want it, end of story.

Well, at least you break even. They happily accepted my profile and cash, and have yet to find anyone remotely compatible.

Another issue is that men FAR outnumber women on these things

Which is strange. You'd think supply and demand would lead to a somewhat equal ratio. Sure, there are probably more guys looking to cheat on their partners than vice versa, but I doubt that accounts for the entire difference.

I'm glad to hear it. My girlfriend's a Democrat. She's a morally conservative Christian in most respects, but between growing up in a union family and being a teacher, she's been given a lot of biases that I frankly don't hold against her. There's a world of difference between an everyday Dem and a liberal Dem--the latter are evil, the former are just ill-informed.

"...and that I must prefer cormorants to be soaked in spilled crude oil."

I would simply reply that I prefered a BBQ sauce with just a hint of jalepeno. And then I'd ask what wine they prefered with their cormorant?

Hmmmm. I think this is close to being bullsh*t. Politics matters only if there's nothing else to unite the couple -- in which case the relationship is probably in the crapper anyway.

I'm pretty conservative, and my wife approaches things from a more liberal perspective. We therefore have some political differences. HOWEVER -- we agree on the stuff that actually matters, such as money, child-raising, religion, and so on. We're also pretty devoted to common sense, which means that we are able to ignore our political differences 98% of the time.

As such, we will remain married until death us do part -- political differences notwithstanding.

But I KNOW if I put my income up high I'd get an ENORMOUS amount of response. That's what disgusts me about many women(or most?) They are sexual mercenaries.

That "sexual mercenary" and "pretty good looking" stuff is man-talk. You're basically thinking about your sexual attractiveness. Women think more about kids, family life, and whether a man's shiftlessness is going to cause problems for the family.

IOW, they're more interested in how well you can support them. If you're 27 and (by their standards) barely scraping by, it means that there will likely be money troubles, especially after you have kids.

I'll tell you what makes it so:

1)Men are lazy and afraid(it's ok, I'm a man) We really would prefer not to go through the screening process of asking women for their numbers only to get "Joe's Jook Joint" when we call or not get a call back if we offer our numbers. Online dating allows you to at least get past the first type of rejection and to overcome any shyness or reservations by typing words and maybe calling on the phone.

2)Men are less risk-averse than women. Of course, I never understood the fear about psychos on the net, it's not like meeting strangers at the club or a bar is much safer.

3)Men need companionship more than women. Some KIND of companionship, at least. They are more likely to look at this as an alternate way of doing things.

4)Women get hit on all the time, they really don't NEED online services. Men don't and coupled with the fear of rejection, they will resort to the online thing.
