On May 8, at the county's "Gay Day" event in Dayton, Tennessee, police arrested two christians as they were fastening the beams of one of their ten-ffot crosses, which they often use in parades arond the nation in order to draw people to Christ. Without incident, they were arrested and charged with "disorderly conduct" and "interfering with a special event." They were both freed after posting the required $500 bond. Dayton police chief Kenneth Walker admitted to reporters "They wanted to go down to protest and we told them they couldn't" "they were arrested;that's it."

Yeah! Cause everyone in law enforcement knows that protesting is obviously illegal, and should be crushed like the sedition that it is./sarcasm

In a just world, this "cop" would be tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail.

This sounds like more than just time, place and manner restrictions, but infringement of free speech rights. I don't expect the ACLU to get involved, though.

"interfering with a special event."

You mean it wasn't a simply fabulous event?

God! What has become of our country?

Is there still something called the Bill of Rights, or has that been abolished by the senescent, drug-addled jurists who currently run every waking moment of our lives?

First we had FACA, then the insidious "campaign finance bill", which was essentially a bill of attainder, then the unelected body of nincompoops who constitute the FCC decided to flex their political muscle, and now this?

AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGH!

Right now, I'm staring intently at my computer and making numerous obscene gestures.

I read the article in the tennessean, and I think I know why they were actually arrested for Disorderly conduct and interfereing with a special event - fashion. Yup. Apparently as the Gay marhcers in the parade were going by, they were so distracted by the outfits those guys were wearing (no sense of style, etc...) that the parade faltered...

I could be wrong though. ;)

If this went down the way the article suggests, then I would give almost anything to have been part of it. A violation of my rights and a false arrest of me would cost those responsible Hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars.

Romans 1: 26 - 28 = Hate Speech! A cross is a disorderly conduct.

Can't happen here.

Our country has about "went to hell in a handbasket."

We are slowly losing our rights because of the demands of gay/liberal activists.

God help us.

Well look at this. "Time, place and manner restrictions" at it again. I think hobbes1 words should be repeated here:

"It is just the way it is. There are nine jillion ways to express ones opinion, whining becuse you are not allowed to harass a specific target, in a narrowly defined way, is just that, whining." - hobbes1

"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself."
- Thomas Paine
