"This is a stupid Poll"

Deep in our hearts, we know that. We already know what sodomy is, and that it's sinful and disgusting. The Bible and human science concur on this, and have for a long time.

But we know just as well that out there in policy-land, many popularity seeking politicians actually pay attention to polls.

Ok, well I reset my browser and voted fifteen times for "about time."

The main point is that on-line polls are utter worthlessness, by the way.

I choose the end of marriage as we know it. God has been longsuffering with America, but His judgement has been on us for a while now. America turned her back on God a number of years ago. Gay marriage is just more of the inevitable result of that turning.

I vote:

LIVE AND LET LIVE

with the addendum:

Unless the people of Massachusetts see fit to amend their State constitution to prohibit gay marriages.

In that instance, I'd say that homosexuals wishing to marry would have to move elsewhere, the issue would become moot, the poll would become irrelevant, and "Judgement" would be postponed.

Cheers!

My preferred answer of "It's just a 2004 election year political ploy." wasn't available.

Heh. I'm fine with gay marriage--my attitude is, who cares. My brother is gay, and I love him dearly, and he and his partner have been together for 15 years and are as happy and dull as any other old married couple. If they want to get married, I'll be first in line to say congrats.

As some comedian (I forget who) said, if gays want to get married and stop having sex with eachother, who are we to say no?

And, the day I drink white zin is the day somebody had me lobotomized.

Unfortunately, hare-brained political ploys have a way of staying around indefinitely once they become law.

I'm being nitpicky, but I would disagree with your assertion that science ever produces normative results such as:

Sodomy is disgusting.
Sodomy is sinful.

Perhaps scientific studies might show that engaging in the activities that fall under the heading "sodomy" can increase one's risk of disease, but that's a far cry from determining that those activities are sinful. On the other hand, a social scientists can pretty well establish the statistical likelihood that any one person would consider "sodomy" disgusting or sinful. In that instance, presenting normative conclusions in terms of their empirical likelihood might be analogous to a "scientific" determination of sinfulness or disgustingness.

In any case, it's pretty clear that the Bible classifies sodomy as a sin.

Cheers!

I have to agree with you. The severest damage to the body politic was the womens' movement and the mass abortion psychology. Now, our culture has no birthrate and we are being shooved out by a more fertile culture from the south much like Europe is being replaced by a much more dangerous fertility (Islam).

They got a paper that says they can scarf up Social Security, but that's about it.
They'll never be joined in Holy matrimony, no matter how much they bitch. Only normal heterosexuals will ever have that.
They'll always be sexually dysfunctional. Nothing can change that but their own change of behavior toward normalcy.
I nor my children will never accept them as normal - papers or no papers. They're still freaks of nature.

TR76 wrote:

I’ve got a theological question about the causal logic contained in this poll. The poll provides:

Massachusetts Homosexual Marriage [is...]...The Beginning Of God's Judgment On America.

Now we’ve just been told that we cannot postpone anything that has been planned by God. That makes sense. If God sets a schedule for the universe, then we can conclude that events are going to happen when he schedules them. The poll, however, suggests that this is not entirely true. If you think about the causal chain inherent in the italicized statement, it implies that we can accelerate God's universal schedule by, for example, allowing gay marriage.

So, here’s my question: Is this true? Has God created a scheduling system by which we can accelerate “Judgment,” but not postpone it? And if that’s the case, what motive (other than the obvious motive of achieving entrance into Heaven) do humans have to behave morally. Even more importantly, why should we care what policies our political entities adopt, as they can do nothing but accelerate something that’s going to occur anyway?

Cheers!

There are examples where societies have repented. God usually offers repentence before they are swept away. We are being swept away. Some societies repent and are not destroyed.

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Sodomy is disgusting. Sodomy is sinful.

Perhaps I wasn't clear on which realm is addressed by the Bible and by science, respectively.

sinful

This is a moral statement. And we are agreed on what Scripture teaches: that lying with a man as one lies with a woman is a detestable abomination that brings God's judgment.

disgusting

This is a scientific statement. Supporting evidence would be the fact we are built for natural, heterosexual contact (check the plumbing!) and the medical consequences of what homosexuals do.
