How many times does the press take one sentence out of context and twist it? More often than not. I'am with you.

The State Dept has been riddled with Socialists since before Roosevelt. It percapita has more Socialists than Academia and that is saying something.
There is nothing that a Socialist likes better than kissing the hiney of a brutal dictator. After all when your hero's are Stalin and Lenin , a little tyrant like Amin, Hussein and Castro must remind you of the good old days.

..Read the article: it's a pure hit piece.. Absolutely. Powell resigned from the Clinton Administration rather than associate himself with policies he didn't agree with. and he'd do the same here. He doesn't need this job.
I wonder if this is one of the administration's con jobs on the media, where he gets them all charging to break down a door which he suddenly yanks open...?

What the hell branch of government is the state department? They talk as if they have the power of the congress, the judiciary or the executive branches. They are not elected officials, so they shouldn't be speaking as if they are of their own power... I'd fire some of their asses just to show them they serve at the pleasure of the Head of State, the President!!

The State Dept has been riddled with Socialists since before Roosevelt. Sen. McCarthy had a little something to say on that subject ...
In my opinion the State Department, which is one of the most important government departments, is thoroughly infested with communists.
I have in my hand 57 cases of individuals who would appear to be either card-carrying members or certainly loyal to the Communist Party, but who nevertheless are still helping to shape our foreign policy.

McCarthy may have been a loud mouth, grandstanding alcoholic but it didn't mean he was wrong.
I believe Ann Coulter had a whole book devoted to the subject.

You're very likely correct in your assessment of Powell. But would that not also apply to Rice?

Abu Powell can always resign.
To: Pikamax
The GQ magazine echo chamber. That article had no direct quotes from Powell to support their title.

Mr Wilkerson even makes jibes at the war record of Mr Bush's inner circle, comparing their desire for military conflict with their reluctance to serve as young men: "I make no bones about it. I have some reservations about people who have never been in the face of battle, so to speak, who are making cavalier decisions about sending men and women out to die."I wonder what Wilkerson would say about FDR. He sent millions into war and never served a day. He had plenty of time to attend Groton, Harvard and Columbia Law School, plenty of time for the state senate and the Wilson administration (undersecretary of navy), but made no time to serve. When we entered WWI, FDR was 35 and could easily have gotten an officer's commission (the polio didn't strike him till 1921).
Paging Mr. Wilkerson!

Mr. Wilkerson will no doubt claim that FDR lived in a "different time" back then (or some such). Therefore, let him explain his position on Bill Clinton, the draft lying draft dodger, sending those servicemen out to die in Mogadishu.
